VZW Screen Protector and reception problem

Anyone noticing the VZW screen protector causing data reception problem? My data service has been cutting in and out for the past week, and I had originally thought the problem was due to VZW network problem locally. But after a whole week, I had started to think the problem is with my Thunderbolt. So I tried resetting the phone, restarting the phone, and removing the case. I finally decided to remove the screen protector, and immediately I am getting consistent 4G data connection. I decided to put a new protector back onto the phone (since the VZW package comes with 3), and tried the data connection. After 5 minutes, the data reception started to cut in and out. I removed this new protector, and immediately, the 4G reception is back and hasn't had problem since.

Anyone seeing this?

Seems very far fetched...A screen protector would not mess with the Antenna. Mainly because the antenna is prob on the reverse side of the phone. Under the housing, not the screen. Yea I doubt its a screen protector causing u any 4G issues. Sounds like a device issue. Do a swap if ya need to, u got 14 days.

Im using the same screen protectors and my phone is working fine, you either have a faulty sim or antenna. I cant see the protector causing a problem...

Wait! What?! Plastic screen cover blocks signal?? ...............maybe you just holding it wrong..... (Steve J) ;)

I agree it's crazy, but so far the phone has been able to hold onto the data signal since I removed the screen protector. No idea why, but I'll test it a few more days. Maybe it's the antenna issue like some of you suggested, and it just coincidently went away when I removed the screen protector.

Thats really weird!!! I dont see how the screen protecter would do that but i would swap it out and get a different one because i have the same protecter on my phone and it works great.

Well, I am pretty sure it's not the screen protector now. The data connection is acting up again... :(
I am pretty much sure this is related to the network rather, than to our phones, since most of TBs having the same issue. Mine was/is cutting in and out, but mostly in my home area, where i have usually 2 bars on 4G network. I even went to my local store, and have them replaced my sim card. That, however, did not help. VZW is aware of this problem, and i am sure, there will be some action taken soon, i hope. Either software update, or "recall"? I have to keep in mind, that LTE is a new or newer network, but TB is their first LTE phone........nothing is being born without pain, that's for sure. ;)

that is what you think. Screen protectors have nothing to do with the screen, I will not believe it because it simply is no where close to the antenna and it is just plastic or material that can not interfere with the antenna.

Verizon is having issues with their network. They are constantly upgrading or adding stuff I think. I Still get dropouts at my house, and sometimes it works great and sometimes I start getting dropouts while other places my connection works great. They are working on the ticket I submitted and I called to check status and they said there is an issue with switch or something in my area and will be resolved by the end of the weekend and call back monday if I still have issues. You are not alone, there are a lot of people having issues in certain areas, I think verizon is aware of it.

same here I am in orange county, fountain valley, ca. I get spotty coverage around my house and last two days it was working great but last night the same thing happened, they said there is something wrong with the switch in my area and will be fixed by weekend. I think their 4g network is going threw growing pains. I hope they fix this soon, I only seem to have dropouts around my house and right now its working great but I would not be surprised if it starts acting up again, lol. I switch to 3g manually at home sometimes and that seems to work fine, that tells me there is nothing wrong with my phone. specially when it works great in other places.

I am in Irvine, so not far from you. I actually thought it was network problem as well, but I noticed my phone won't connect to data (1X, 3G, or 4G) at all this morning. There are times where it is showing 4G with 2 or more bars, but the phone would say the Mobile Network is disconnected and no data will come through. I also compared to my wife's Eris, which was able to pick up 3G without problem. I did just visit the VZW store, where all the TB were getting 4G signals without problem, but mine wouldn't pick up anything. They just swapped my phone out and gave me a new TB. Fingers crossed...

The only way I can see the screen protector blocking your signal is if you put the screen protector around the SIM card before sliding it into its tray.....

LOL you had a very bad problem then, I always get signal at my house it is just sometimes I drop it while browsing the web, but when I step out and go to verizon store I get crazy coverage, lol. They said there was a problem with the switch in my area and should be resolved by the weekend.

Same here! Hope they are right about that damn switch, whatever it is.....

We have 4 TB's that were gotten at the same time. All 4 had wonderful service, 3g that is. No 4G in our area yet  It all started with the internet dropping from daughters phone then wives and mine. Our son is the only one with connection still. We've called Verizon's Tech Support and they said it is issues on their end and they are working on it. The WiFi works great though and we also use son's Mobile Hotspot and it works great also. Just hope Verizon gets it straight soon. Also anyone know how to fix a problem sending pics in messages to other phones?? We were trying to send pics and it compressed them and send but they didn't receive anything but a blank text with the caption on it. Tried it on several different peoples phones with no luck.
