Wake locks

To our resident wake lock expert, hawker, I get a fair amount of dhcp wake locks. Google hasn't helped me to understand what they are and if I can or should get rid. Any ideas?

Scanning for wi-fi networks? Have you set a wi-fi sleep policy in wireless and network > wi-fi settings > menu > advanced?

Hey, not dumb at all!

I might be wrong after all, just thought wifi scanning might be a culprit.

You want dumb? Just watch this space! :D

What ROM are you using? In MIUI, there is a bug whereby the phone is not reported as sleeping even when it is. This is documented on the xda forums (I think it's one of the FAQs); there they suggest using the app 'cpu spy' which correctly reports the 'deep sleep' status.

I don't know if this applies to other ROMS / kernels, too, but hopefully worth pointing out.

Syd, apologies for not being my usual active self lately butty.
If you can, post up a screen shot of the partial and kernel wakelocks in betterbatterystats. You should get a number of kernel wake locks, but just to check you're not getting anything untoward there.
It may also be a good idea to show you're getting into deep sleep properly, so leave your device alone for say an hour after switching it on and look in cpuspy.
I, and i'm sure many others on here will then be happy to help you out.
