Help wallpaper problem

hi I am having a problem setting an image as my background on zte racer.
I resized the image to the max resolution (240x320), but when I select the wallpaper, it comes up with an orange rectangle, it won't let me select the whole image, for some reason it always ends up zooming on the middle of the image thus I have a whole screen full of part of the picture when it could easily get the whole.
any ideas please anyone?

Resize or make the wallpaper of size 480 x 320 .
Wallpaper size is usually (twice the width) x (height)
