Wallpaper question

OK, newb here. When I try to use a wallpaper (stock HTC or downloaded) I get the little box to size it, but it's in landscape mode so I don't get the whole wallpaper on the home screen. Shouldn't it be portrait? Am I missing something simple? Thanks.

when you scroll to the pages on the sides, it scrolls along the image a little.

if you dont have the perfect resolution (image size) you just have to mess with resizing that box until you get it how u want.

thats what i have to do anyway.

Yes, I see that it move slightly as I scroll to the other pages. It just seems strange that, while I am choosing a wallpaper, the crop box only fits about half the image. It must have to do with resolution size. What sixe do you use that seems to work best?

i usually just take a picture or find one online and use the crop thing to get it how i want. like here i just took a pic of my trailblazer wheel and just cropped it so it fit well on the screen
