Wanamlite ICS problems

Currently using AndyX Rom but fc's & removal from XDA made me look into alternatives for future so tried wanamlite last nite.

Did the wipes, installed then problems started. Every time I pressed message icon it said app isn't installed (stock messaging app).

When I tried to restore using Titanium it crashed pretty much every time & wouldn't fully restore appa (wasn't selecting system data). Also tried using CWM for just the data but that wasn't straight forward. Phone just kept freezing with screen blacked out all but notification bar??

I tried v8.9, 9.0 & 9.1 all with identical results. And re wiped and re installed also.

Anyone have similar or suggestions?

Having the same problem, lastly i wipe user data 2 times, cache partition 2 times, delvick cache 2 times, system 2 times, then install wanamlite ics zip, its work finaly and is running on my SGS2 for 2 weeks now without any problem.

I have found the SMS app shortcut on several ICS roms does not initially work and usually needs removing and then adding back from app draw. The app itself should be there just the shortcut not working. Titanium restore can be problematic also and it's best to restore your apps in batches of ten or so to see which ones won't recover. There are still some which simply cause problems and are best re-installed from Android Market....sorry, google playtime or whatever the hell its now called....

Wanamlite works fine.
The messaging app shortcut not working is correct and its been like that for lots of versions.
Regarding the reinstallation of apps using titanium backup, unmount your SD card and then do the reinstall and you won't have any failures (it is a very common problem on the leaked roms from Samsung).

From CWM, I wipe everything and then flash, usually the same with any new version. This gives you a clean system, then reinstallng apps via titanium.

OK, re tried 9.1 and did all wipes, etc installed and cwm restored data fine. Re added messaging app onto drawer (as per previous post) but everytime I try to go into messaging it just goes to a black screen then fc's then goes back to main screen with "Unfortunately, messaging has stopped working" message?

So far, everything else works, I think.

Any ideas?

Try doing another complete wipe of everything. Then flash the rom.

Start from scratch and once you have started to login to your accounts, reinstall all your user apps and user data from a backup made with Titanium Backup. Just use CWM to wipe and flash.

Cheers again daffy but.... the plot thickens.........

Reverted back to cwm backup/restore (andyX) which was atleast working. Deleted backups and did fresh backups, etc, and did couple backups of everything incl messaging & contacts using myBackup root (due to Titaniums unreliability).

Did all wipes x 4, then re did data x2, cache x2, davlik x2 & battery x2 (as per someone elses post) used Hawkers cleaner re installed V9.1.

SMS is now fine - re stored apps, settings, messages with myBackup all OK.

But now the problem is with contacts - everytime I press contact (whether dock or app drawer icon) screen just goes blank then I get android.a.core blah blah message telling me its stopped :mad:

Like the look & sound of this ROM but any suggestions before I give up??

Well, I doubt its the ROM as it works just about 90% perfect for me. Very occasional issues nut they are minor. Don't have any Android core process errors.

All my contacts are restored by Google. I don't bother backing up messages. I only back up using CWM (if I want to do a restore) and apps with titanium backup (which I have always used for 3 years).

At a guess, I would say its either a problem with that wipe utility or backup utility you are using.

Sorted it!!! Flashed it about 4 further times to figure it out. It was something to do with restoring data.

In end had to export/import contacts through SD (only way contacts would work) and use my backup Root to restore but in 2/3 batches - SMS on own.

So far everything works great - battery only lost 6% in 5hrs too! Hopefully latest one can be ironed out quick so can see what its like with Siyah!!

In what way do you find Titanium Backup Pro, unreliable?

Forgive me for saying so daffyduck, but, "90% perfect", for a custom ROM is not very good or usable in my book. :(

When I restored it would crash quite a bit and apps would need restoring in batches of no more than a dozen, roughly.
Especially when switching between rom's.

Have nothing against titanium just when I've used it recently had these issues, myBackup did the job at time and also sms' and other data, etc.

Oh, right. I'm using v4.8.2 now. Would strongly advise you keeping Titanium on and letting it do backups for you... just in case. ;)

I was being a little harsh believe me, as not wanting to claim something as perfect.
But had no issues whatsoever today.
