Want incredible battery life? (OFFICIAL HTC INCREDIBLE BATTERY THREAD)

Talk about spewing. Lol. Although usb is standard, charge by usb is not. Though pins 1 and 4 are +-5v, pins 2 & 3 have not standard signaling. For instance the ipod iPhone won't charge unless it sees about 2.5v there. HTC devices seem very flexible in their requirements. If a bb charger burned out an Inc, there was something wrong with that bb charger.

That is exactly true.

It's a shame that a few people, who have no clue what they're talking about, come here spewing these false claims.

USB is a STANDARD. It means that all devices using it are compatable with this STANDARD. A USB power supply runs at a mean 5 volts, give or take about a 1/4 of a volt. Amperage will vary (high power vs low power) that will affect how fast your device will charge.

I will say that some of the cheapo devices you can buy on Ebay or Amazon are not built to the standards that Verizon or HTC/BlackBerry/etc. power supplies are built to and could potentially cause a problem.

To suggest that a BlackBerry charger would damage an HTC device is as ludicrous as saying that using Energizer AA batteries won't damage your flashlight and Duracell AA batteries will. To suggest otherwise is only showing your ignorance of the subject matter.

Read post #33 you bitter know-it-alls.

Blackberry Storm chargers work with Incredible - Page 4 - Android Central Forums

and there's more to come....

If I look around on the net long enough, I will find you lots of people that believe the Apollo landings were a hoax, that Elvis is still alive and that the world is flat. It doesn't make them right.

You're arguing against the laws of electricity. You might as well come in here and argue against the laws of physics.

At night I use desktop clock while plugged in. When I unplug it, it seems like the phone will not go to sleep until I power down. I'm not sure if this is what's causing it, but is there any way to tell other than Spare Parts?

some apps update automatically and won't allow your phone to go to sleep. hate to be generic, but that's at least a starting point. that's also a big battery drain that a lot of people aren't aware of

however, i KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ELECTRICITY, so.....

I applaud your desperate attempts to achieve some level of relevancy in this world, however pathetic.

But it's not any updates because when I restart the phone the awake time is fine. After a night plugged in my awake time is 100% after unplugging.

Wow. You are really an angry and misguided individual. I'm only trying to explain how reality works. If it works different for you, then all the best.

The other thread was closed for a reason. I didn't close it so that any of you could go to another thread and start the same argument. You would think that after I deleted 15 posts in this thread that some of you would get the hint.

OK, to put an end to this....

droid_head had an Incredible and it quit working. He was using an old BlackBerry Storm charger and believes that this is the cause of the problem. Others disagree with him. End of story, stop discussing and arguing. There is no further need for discussion at this point. None of you are going to change the others opinion on the matter and this will only lead to some of you getting banned.

Ok then, let's put it this way. How can you tell what app is keeping the phone awake?
The only way I know how is to just force close one at a time until the problem is fixed. I write down the awake time and the real time, turn off the screen for 15 mins, turn back on and check the awake time. If it's the same, or just a little more, phone is sleeping. If not, go FC another app, and do again.

Areas to check... in system panel app... check active Apps...

if you reboot your phone and wait a minute or two... then on your phone. go to menu...settings... applications... running services.

This may give you a idea of what Apps are running and how long they been running/active.

and i'm the only one on probation! Yippppeeee!

Thanks all. Great info and starting point. I'm thinking it's the desktop clock since it really doesn't happen until evening when I set it on. But I'll find out and post back.

Can't figure it out. I put the desktop clock on at night and by the time I wake up I can't get the phone to sleep no matter what I do. Only thing is a battery pull or total shutdown. Too frustrating to try every app force shutdown, way easier to shut down and start back up. Oh well, someone may have some ideas.

I'm sure there is a way to maybe see what apps are updating constantly and using the most battery life. I think the Inc natively shows what apps use the most battery life, or maybe its ATK or ATM, not sure. If an app is using an excessive amount of battery life, that may be the culprit. It does seem like it should be easier.

So my battery problem abated itsself this past weekend in the most strange way...

I have been using the phone allot - no way I could make it past 2pm each day starting at about 7am - plug it in - swear allot etc..

So finally i took some time to sit down and look over the phone...

And guess what - it pops up a message that "you phone is low on memory" really you say - so i started to look over aps and their usage... found some aps were about 1 or 2 megs - maybe a few that were more then PEEP was as 70 megs.. seemed strange - so i cleared the cache on all the apps that have the ability to do so - sadly one of them actually erases your HTC theme setup (as in where widgets are etc..) oh well too late...

I was running out of memory on the phone but even after clearing it and setting my email to use the SD card here are the stats:

Total SD Space: 6.60
Avail: 6.53

Phone Space Total: 748
Available: 688

The strangest part is that is aproximately what it said before it started to tell me I had no space left and would not even let me download my voicemails.

I then reset the front screen to the blue world map theme...becase what the heck I would try something different..

So i Powered down the phone - fired it back up and a slew of VM's poured in and I could once again use the dang phone...

At this point I have to say I was about to send this thing back.... so i plug it in for the night and say I will deal with it on Monday...

I unplugged it this AM - Sat - and so far its been unplugged for 23hrs and the battery meter has not moved under ABOUT and in the Clock it is showing: 69%

Ok I will admit this is strange... I have had no luck with the phone since day one with battery life...

To the point that I bought the longer life battery - FYI: that is what is in it now...

I guess I will wait to see if it makes it past a full day of actual use on Monday... maybe it fixed itself or something wad stuck on? or there is a bad theme or app..

Its hard to tell - but to go from barely making it 8 hours to barely moving the battery meter after 23hrs... thats a massive change...

my phone idle takes up most of my battery life is this the case with anybody else, i have everything is this thread pretty much done and using wifi and my updates and refresh rates are pretty spaced out any idea y this is or is everyone else have this going on.

After a couple of days of experimentation, I have found that the 'Taskiller' app actually seems to be the cause of my battery draining too quickly, as opposed to the solution it was promised to be.

Of course, I have now removed it completely.

Is charging the phone for 5-6 hours before you use it a big deal to your battery life? My phone's supposed to come in on monday, and i have a 3 and a half hour ride to and from the doctor's office (not counting the time that i'm actually in the doctors office) and i would love to be able to use my Incredible while i was there.

And if charging it first is a big deal to the battery life, would a car charger work fine or would it be bad for it?
