Root Want to learn

HI im making this thread because i want to learn how to work on android sdk's and make roms and im very dedicated unforunately i pretty much dont know ow to get started im 14 but i want to learn and im very smart
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME :)

Start themeing first. Its a good way to get a feel for the way android is setup. U need apk tool and a good PNG editor. I use adobe fireworks.ill send u a few links later when I'm home.

I would say it totally depends on where you want to go with it. Personally I have always been more interested in operating systems than the software running on them. I have learned enough about Android OS to compile my own roms without knowing anything at all about theming. If you're already running linux I would go with trying to compile Cyanogen, if your just a Windows user interested in learning about Android maybe the kitchen is a better place to start.

So where can I get the kitchen at do I download the SDK. STARTER PACK?

do i have to have a evo or can i test the android SDK ON my optimus??
this will get you a good start. You'll need a linux environment with the android sdk, etc installed and all the other lil files installed.

for the Optimus M just change out thunderc_LW690 for thunderc_MS690. You may also have to manually setup the vendor tree as the extract-files.sh hasnt been edited to fully work yet. I think BobZhome has the vendor files on his repo on github if you want to check.

so i would have to install unbuntu??
the guides are all mostly based on ubuntu, but can be done on any linux distro. Just some cmds will differ.

Some use a virtual machine (vm) since the can install this on windows and the install ubuntu etc in it. I personally dualboot win7 and kubuntu as I like the full use of my PC and a vm is limited. But I also spend more time on *nix than windows.

There also is wubi (windows ubuntu installer) That will install like any other program in windows, but setups a dualboot like setup. Thing is it really doesnt install ubuntu, but rather installs the ubuntu.iso and creates a filesystem that saves your settings, stuff you install etc.
