Root want to root/add froyo

i have 2.1 on my phone now, and i want 2.2 and i want to root it to unlock the fps and tethering. should i do the upgrade first then root it, or should i root the phone with froyo?

Go ahead and root then just flash a 2.2 rom, it'd be faster.

Since you still on 2.1 use Simple Root to root ur phone,three simple steps and you will be done in no time.After that feel free to flash ant Froyo based ROM of your choice.

FYI, the latest OTA update fixes the fps problem, you dont need to root just for that.

so i tried rooting my phone following this http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies-extras.html

how do i know its rooted? all it said at the end was "waiting to load root" (im pretty sure). and said to reboot if it didnt succeed.


nm, i guess it froze up the first time *shrugs*
the second try it went all the way til it said 'done'.
