want to swap email programs

I am running Freshrom 2.1D. I would like to replace the Sense Email with the Droid Email client. I have the Droid email apk, but it won't install. I assume it is conflicting with the default mail client. Has anyone tried to do this?

I don't think it's conflicting. I just think it's not compatible.

Why would that be? They both run on 2.1.
