Want to turn my Hydro into a dedicated MP3 player

Hello all, I was wondering if you can help me. I bought a kyocera hydro for $22 on Amazon with the thought that it would be a dedicated MP3 player, intending to load it up with music and not use up data by streaming.

It has been working okay, but for some reason I can't tell Google Play Music to save pinned music to the SD card, so this greatly limits the amount of music I can save to it even with my nice big SD card I bought for it. I was wondering if you guys knew a way I could turn it into just strictly an MP3 player? Ideally, I would like to remove all the apps and phone bits from it, and just have it strictly play music. Is it okay to remove literally everything including phone, data, etc? If I could do that, then I would be happy to just put all my music directly on the SD card and not have to worry about Google Play Music.

There are a lot of MP3 players that will play music from the SD card, you don't have to use the Google player.

As far as removing apps, be careful. Remove the wrong one and the phone won't boot, or you'll stop booting but not get a homescreen.

If you're not worried about the warranty, put CWM or TWRP on it, make a nandroid backup before you remove each app - then if it breaks, boot to recovery and restore the backup. And you'll know not to remove that app.

This device does not have a working recovery. I would STRONGLY advice against indiscriminately deleting system apps.

If you delete the wrong app, and the phone won't boot there will be no way to recover it
