wanting to get a droid x....

Hello.

So i'm wanting to get an unlocked droid x.
I've never bought an unlocked phone before...

I'm in canada, and right now i'm with Rogers (GSM)
and Telus is on CDMA...

what should i be expecting if i were to get an unlocked droid x?

so, once i get the phone, unpack it..do i put a sim card in it? (i dont think i would) but i'm just confused to how it actually works when it's unlocked. lol.
