Help **warning: Blackberry charger killed my incredible**

Thanks to this post and the previous 4 or 5 you have completely lost all credibility in my book regarding your issue.

I realize at first you thought you were helping warn people but your theory has been debunked over and over again in this thread and yet you persist. Enough is enough.
lol exactly what i said to myself.

Seriously there is nothing wrong with BB or LG or Motorola chargers. They are all the same and wont damage the phone. You might have a bad charger or charge port on the phone. Those would be the first thing i would think of. Not blaming it on all BB chargers out there.

It was a defective Blackberry charger or Incredible. This is not rocket science. 5 volts at 700mA. My Blackberry charger works fine with the incredible.

Hey I was just letting you guys know what happen with me - As you guys know I wouldn't lie to you guys - I have no reason to haha... I plugged in the charger and it freezes the screen in which I can't tap it, it works when I unplug it from the BB adapter - I can get this on video ASAP - but that to me is a sign of "not good Wayne" the whole common sense thing told me so...

I switched to a Seido 2150 since then and never used it because I figured if it was doing anything buggy it could effect something internal whether the battery or something so better safe then sorry I did what was best - can I have my credibility back?! ;)

check your flux capacitor...i think you need 1.21 gigawatts.

Nope. The guy at Verizon said the Verizon store was wrong. They said to use only HTC chargers. The charger out put is different from the BB charger to the HTC charger. The slightest difference can mess up your phone. All these people using their old chargers are in for a big surprise.

The tech said it could take a while, but it will eventually mess up your phone. Everyone's been warned. Just doing my part to share.

My ex spilled soda on my DiNC charger like 2-3 months ago (Now you see why she's my ex! lol) and I've been using my BB Storm charger ever since. Works just fine.

It means "With this, therefore because of this." Essentially, it means that correlation does not imply causation and what has been told to you by the tech is about as credible as if he told you that using your phone outside in the daylight caused your phone's failure. A properly functioning BB charger will not damage an Incredible.

Thus far, an electrical engineer and an aircraft electrical systems craftsman have weighed in to refute the tech's misinformation.

I understand latin. Thanks. I was kidding.

I could care less about having credibility with a bunch of turds whose life revolves around a little electronic device.

I have plenty of cred in the things that count, like uh, my profession. So I could care less about having credibility in the Hemorrhoid Forums.

I'll laugh my ass off when there's a bunch of cooked Incredibles out there because they used their BB chargers on their phones.

Listen to others if you want or take your chances, but the tech guy at Verizons main tech support center said to use only Htc chargers.

They're just spouting the party line. A Micro usb cable that attaches to your PC is a Micro USB cable. When you start reporting problems companies like VW will always tell you to use only official accessories for your device, its standard practice because they don't want to support another companies accessories. It means nothing in most cases.

You had several at VW tell you it was ok and one that said it wasn't. Why do you believe that one guy more than the others?

However I believe you believe this so thanks for the warning. ;)

First of all, I know for a fact that all the people here using BB wall chargers on their Dinc are a little less uncomfortable in their whitey tighties, but are so defensive because they don't want to believe that they might have effed up with their precious Dinc. I don't care what the specs on the charges say, there's something no right about the BB chargers being used with the Dinc.

To answer your question, the first guy at the V store told me it was ok to use the BB chargers. Obviously it was his first day on the job. Ive since called the manager at the Verizon store and educated him on the situation. The others i talked to were 2nd tier tech support and another guy who really knew his shit, not sure his title. He said use the BB at your own risk that the configuration of the chargers was different and any fluctuation in voltage/A, EVEN THAT FROM YOUR COMPUTER, was bad for these new, sophisticated phones. He said they were getting a lot of people saying their phone was non-responsive when plugged in with the BB wall charger, which is exactly what others in this forum have reported. So you think they just got a bad phone too? Doubt it.

You non-believers can do what you want, but that's enough for me to stick to my htc wall charger only. Good luck smooth talking Verizon to keep from letting them know you used an unapproved device to charge your phone (pg 6 HTC handbook) when it finally goes down for the count. Attack me all you want, I'm a big boy and can take it, hell I embrace it. But its unfortunate that I was practically attacked by some out of their own insecurity and frustration that they didn't have this info before they effed up their phones. They'll be wondering every time their phone does something funky. :D

I see all the specs people are posting, but my blackberry chargers are getting boxed up with my Storm. might bury them in the backyard with a small ceremony.
I'm not using anything buy my HTC wall charger and ordering a newer car charger. Then if my phone gets fried again, I'm getting an iPhone.
So you would pay $350 to break your contract, get on ATT network, and leave this forum?

For everyone else, if the end of the plug fits, you can use any charger. I use an LG charger, various USB chargers, a $3 Ebay external charger, a BB car charger and any other charger I can find at the time. Never, ever had a problem with 2 Erises and one DI.

FYI Einstein, I'm referring to the Incredible. You're in the wrong forum.

Furthermore, my contract is up, I'm within my "no questions asked" 30 day period, and can do whatever the hell I want for another few weeks.

With that being said, the iphone 4 is really just a "catch up" to the Dinc. The front camera, video editing, battery life, and res are the only big advantages of the iP4. But you can only use Face Time with wifi and with other iP4 users. So that's no loss. iP4 still looks kickass.

Well why didn't you say so in the first place, you could have saved us all the trouble of actually reading your posts. Your professionalism is more than apparent, people are bound to heed your warnings now.

Feel a bit silly asking this being as the message 'it'll be ok' has been banged home.

I have a car charger for my HP Ipaq 314 sat nav unit that is USB. It says it is 5.2v/1.0a. Does that extra 0.2 on the voltage side make a difference? I have a brand new HTC Desire that arrived yesterday, I already love it dearly and I wouldn't want to see any harm come to it. Would I be ok to use this? I don't know electricity, to me it's tamed lightning that makes things work and brought Frankenstein's monster to life.

It may be a bit stupid but I can be quite intelligent sometimes.

Honestly.

Your mild attempt at "forum comedy" was duly noted and your award is in the mail.

Here's my question. How would VZW know that you used a different charger unless you told them?

That's why I said good luck smooth talking. It depends on your morals. If you have any, tell them the truth. If you are amoral, just let the lies flow. ]

If they wanted to get technical, I'm sure they could test for such things, but they're just going to give you a new phone. Even if you have insurance, its going to cost you about 90 french kisses.

I thought someone might actually thank me for this post, but instead I was met with a bunch of nervously sarcastic and know-it-all posts, thus, the reason for my sarcasm. I have no problem dishing it out and can certainly take it.

I joined here to contribute, but I guess you don't get the "cred" unless you go w/ the flow.

See Droid, that's what I meant. No one questioned your motives, just your adherence to the idea you were right. You weren't, but by no fault of yours. You were given bogus information by Verizon and all we wanted to do was correct it. But know, we do appreciate the effort as you should appreciate we setting the record straight for everyone else.

There's no way for them to test what charger you can use. There's also nothing amoral about not disclosing what charger you used. Maybe you should get down off your high horse.

I appreciate that you came here trying to help other users. The problem is that you have many people refuting your claims, some even have legit scientific knowledge, and you took it as a personal insult. Sorry you had bad luck with your phone and sorry you had a bad experience here.

So I ask you simply:

What proof do you have that my BB wall charger did not fry my phone, when others in this forum have also reported anomalies with theirs?
Especially when it was a new phone and the sequence of events are clear?

If I had been in here complaining about something favorable to other members and blaming it on a bad phone, a gazillion members would have claimed "oh come on, what's the chances of getting a bad phone!"

And no, they obviously can't test to see what charger you used. They can however test for electrical inconsistencies. Just like car computers record certain date, that info can also be collected from these phones. Would Verizon take the time, no. So now you can sleep at night.

One person had an anomaly with it freezing. Only you fried the phone. You had a bad phone and perhaps a crapped out charger. That's it.

hmmm...
The exact same thing happened to me! On a road trip with some friend, i figured micro usb would be the same. Nope. It fried my droid too. a new batter wouldn't work. the phone refused to charge any battery.
I'm still awaiting my replacement.
