WARNING
If you were rooted and deleted ANY system apps, you MUST re-install the missing apps before installing the update or you will have a BRICK.

We're already seeing reports of serious issues during and after attempting to root once the OTA has been installed.

"Warning" thread made sticky in Droid 3 and Droid 3 All Things Root.

Sounds like you have the same issue that the Atrix has. Here is some detail on what is happening

On the Atrix, when the OTA update installs, it checks some of the system files and their integrity to make sure the phone is still stock. As the OTA installs, throughout the update process it checks different system files and their md5 hash numbers; if a file was edited (like in the webtop mod) or not the original file (replaced from someone else's phone), than the md5 will be different and the check fails, or if the file is missing it fails all together. The issue here is since the update has already been running and changing things and that once it fails a check it stops and crashes, the update was partially applied before the update stopped and crashed, so the phone becomes a brick. SO you want to make sure you are 100% stock or at least all of the original files are there before you run the OTA update

For those of you, much like myself, who wind up doing so many things to your phone that you know you'll never remember it all, you can just flash the system files onto your phone with a little modification to the xml file used in RSD. This way you can just flash the system files and not bother the rest of your phone. I know since I had to do this to get the OTA to run successfully. The coding in the xml file will look something like this;

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<flashing>
<header>
<phone_model model="SOLANA" />
<software_version version="cdma_solana-user 2.3.4 5.5.1_84_D3G-20_TA-9 110613 release-keysMDM6600BP_N_03.18.16P" />
<interfaces>
<interface name="AP" />
</interfaces>
</header>
<steps interface="AP">

<step operation="flash" partition="system" filename="system.img" MD5="613B45CCF7295590CF87739CD6F0B4E2" />
</steps>
</flashing>

Notice all except the "system" step was removed and this was the only thing that flashed. If you edit the xml file make sure you use something like notepad++ that won't mess with things when you save it. Thanks goes to Hashcode for this and Happy flashing...
