Help Warp issues as of lately

alpha2k

Android Expert
I'll start with I am not sure how to explain this or word this so please forgive the so called shorthand I am typing in :). ok onto the problem(s)

These issues I can't replicate, so I can't like do a certain thing and make it happen each and every time.
Issues:
-Phone reboots, or it locks/freezes, then reboots.
I have alot of functional apps, such as weather-bug, and a clock widget, alarms plus, a few shortcuts to websites on one screen, a calender on one screen, nothing really abnormal.
The lockups/freezes and reboots happen at random apps/intervals, but as of lately it's been happening more often.
Things such as apps like yp yellow pages search app, I have the widget going and that's what I use as a search, or I will be typing a text and I get a freeze, and it reboots, or I play music and it freezes then locks and reboots, but with games it's really noticeable. I recently grabbed a game called Temple run. Seems like a fun game, and a time passer, but I tried 2 times to play it and it rebooted on me both times. I also have a game called Bubble Shoot, and it happens on that as well, actually it happens on alot of the games just not all the time.
Lately it's been rebooting a lot! at least once per day, somtimes 2 times per day.
If I leave the phone alone it seems to be ok, and not reboot. It seems after a reboot things are fine for awhile.
Things I've done are clear cache often, kill apps so-so often, which seem to help somewhat, other than that I have installed watchdog to check if any rampant apps are going on, and found nothing abnormal, also installed a crash detector program, that tells about the crashes (reboots) and tells when and what time they happened. So all in all nothing really out of the norm, except for the fact it seems to be abnormally more than it used to be.

I have gotten an extended battery in the last few months, I think like 3 months now I've had it, and wondered maybe if it could possibly be it that is the issue, maybe from overheating and such not sure. Being that it's been abnormally HOT outside as of these last few months it's really hard to tell if the battery is getting overheated or not. When playing indoors in the AC it doesn't seem as if the battery is overheating at all.

Any suggestions?
Is my warp going south on me?
Is it going defective on me?
I have talked to zte and they won't send a replacement for the time they are repairing it, so that is a HUGE let down for me. I have to use my phone for business, so I cannot really be without a phone while they dork around with testing and/or fixing the phone and sending it back.
I am beginning to think this phone was a bad investment, and if I could afford it I would surely get the HTC Design, but that's kinda outta my price range atm :(.

Should I put my stock battery back in and try it for a few days and see if the extended battery is the issue? and is it possible the extended battery can be an issue at all?

I can agree with the whole "out of price range" feel...

As for your problem, are you stock? Rooted? ROM'd? I'm not sure if the extended battery does or does not have anything to do with it, as I use the stock battery...

But yes, a little more information would be helpful for us :) let us know if you are rooted, and if you are on a stock ROM or not. Then we can go from there.

Ahh, thank you, I totally forgot to add that part. I was thinking about it as I typed it out, but got sidetracked while putting all the other info down, LOL. Must be getting old :).

Yes I am rooted, with b08c update. I am using stock ROM, but I am using GoLauncherX as my GUI, (is that what I wanna call it?).

I have set 7 screens.

I am a bit of a widget type so I have a few widgets, but not a whole lot, as I don't have alot of installed apps on my phone.

Right now I am showing a total of 34 apps on my phone installed, 2.67 total space, with 2.23 free space left. I only have 2 of those apps on the SD card.

This is what has me puzzled, is because I have so much free space and not much at all to the SD card.
With the widgets you can't put apps that are useing widgets to the sd card or the widget stops working, so I couldn't use those to the SD card anyways.

I haven't added much if anything for awhile now, just the latest game, Temple Run. The reboots have been happening before that so I doubt it's the game causing it.

Hope I didn't miss anything this time heh.

that why i bought a lg marquee i try send to zte my warp for warranty or sell. the marquee in a week one time they freeze in two week i have

is the phone i do 6 hard reset 3 in power vol up 2 in the android and two in ftm and continue with the issue if you call to ztre learn Chinese don't understand a damn thing

Your problem is this, if u go to applications, running and check ur ram at the bottom, it must be saying over 135 and over used of ram, all androids comes with a task killer app pre installed, i tell many people at my job to download Advanced Task Killer to maintain their android. Every day people come to my job with this issue. I fix phones and computers. My rom Essentials.Sensation comes with it. If you use the widget daily, ur phone will be flawless with no reboots or freezes. I neva get any problems with the warp. Many interactive widgets and apps that have a sync attach to it slow down ur phone. Using any app and going to another app, then another slows up ur phone because u neva cut off any program u stop using, so they stay on until android can't take it and it reboots but with ATK you control all the programs at a click and every time u use a app it will feel flawless.

I have task killer and kill things running anywhere from once a day to multiple times a day, and even automated, and nothing helps. Not once or not many times.
I also clear cache anywhere from once to multiple times a day, and the same results no matter how many times I clear things or end running apps.
I have also tried clearing cache and apps right before I start a game.
Neither of these 2 options has any affect at all.

It's simply a "random" occurrence, as it may happen if I clear cache and end apps running, or if I don't, it's just a toss up as to if it will run the app/game and reboot, or simply just kick it out to the home-screen.
As I stated before it's not something I can't replicate, because if I could it would be traceable as to what the problem might or might not be.
One time the app/game may run fine, the next time it will reboot.
It's at random intervals, sometimes being multiple times per day, maybe just a single time per day, or maybe a reboot, then lockup, and reboot again.

I can say this though for certain, of all these instances it's only a lockup and/or a reboot, I haven't yet had to pull the battery because it stopped responding for a length of time.

I can deal with an occasional reboot, or even having to remove the battery, but this is to the point it's almost worthless even having the phone, because all I can do is youtube, text and make phone calls. Kinda pointless paying for a service, when the phones not iving me what it states it's capable of.

This is my second phone I have had issues with, and I feel rather burned from it. My first was a Samsung Moment with Sprint, and I had it for almost 1 1/2 yrs, and after MANY MANY people with the same issues, sprint and samsung finally admit the samsung moment has some hardware issues.
Kinda like buy American as apposed to the "made in china" stuff, I'm really starting to get a complex of "only buy known company hardware"

I'm not trying to knock any one company, all I want is a working product I paid for with my hard earned cash, and the fact I make $800 a mo, that says a lot. I feel kinda ripped off.

Here is what helped me,

What I did was did a factory reset and a sd card wipe, waited that to load up again, and justtom's brother in law said that Do Not Root It. But for some weird reason superuser was still in my app drawer, anyways, I did that and it worked, only have had 1 freeze in a 36 hour period! I do Facebook, some websites, listening to music using Google Play Music, view some photos taken. The freeze I had because I was pressing home when it was loading and it just froze on me. Try that, I did it, it worked!

Series having to much Widgets slows down the phone, causes a reboot & even freezes. Widgets take time to load so if your using & application then hit the home button all those widgets have to fully load.

I bougjt my phone stock b08c and i had many reboot issues and freezes i rooted and it cut down the issue but i still had it then i flashed b08 kernal then unitology and iv only had 2 reboots ever in 2 months or so and i use bomb that task instead of the stock task killer which used to freeze essential tasks and Bomb that task has caused no issues but has extemded bat life free ram and keeps my phone from lagging due to multiple apps running i would recomend rooting unlike what was previously stated by others but thats my personal opinion

I'm sorry to say it, but if you look through this forum, or other zte forums on this site, you will see the same issue over and over. Rooted, unrooted, no apps, new sd card, upgraded, replaced, etc. While some have a working model, many (most) do not. Zte is a shoddy manufacturer who either can't out won't fix their product. Boost will not help you.
I am one of the 99 percent....i picked up a tablet to do most of my stuff, roll my eyes every couple of days when i hear that boot sound coming randomly from that damn phone, and wait to buy a different phone

Got mine from Amazon 6 months ago and have had no problems at all. I AM Not rooted and use ATK everytime I think of it. Only minor problem I have is When playing SvZ it does overheat and that's OK compared to the other horror story's I have heard.

I have had that same issue before - random freezes/reboots but I'd have to remove the battery and replace it to get it to restart. I did a factory reset and it stopped. But then I started adding stuff back and got sidetracked and wasn't paying attention and it started happening again (I'm not rooted) so I've done another reset and it stopped. I'll now keep track, adding stuff back one thing at a time til I see what was causing it. I was/am using GolauncherEX as well. Like Trimbaud, I'm just waiting for another phone.

I'm in the same boat. I feel it is one of the Apps. I lost track adding things back and now I'm back to random reboots and battery pulls all over again. Only difference is that I am rooted. I bought this phone in April after reading reviews (CNET and others), when I should have came to this forum first. The problems were well documented going back to the launch last year. Hopefully, Boost will have a solid phone out soon.

Yeah they will the galaxy s2 When it comes out. The s2 is definitely more stable

I have messed with the HTC evo design and it seems as if its a much better phone overall.
Problem with the warp is it does not like to multitask so some apps in the background that are started it thinks their running, so when it tries to run another app it either gets confused and doesn't close an app to make room for the app you want to run, it else it just refuses to close an app and overloads itself. Would explain why some switching to a new rom have better luck. As if its a software issue, because other phones with the same hardware specs don't seem to have the issue it seems. I may try a new rom and are if it helps of improves.

Any "how to's " that anyone can suggest?
It will be my first time installing a rom, so I'm open for advice and the goods and bads such as bricking the phone and such.

Also, is it possible to redo to factory ie: thru the Zte warp utility program?

If that is the problems you are having a simple fix without Taking a gamble with rooting is to install advanced Task killer and set it to every half hour too an hour. Also use the widget or put a switch in your drop down within the notification toggle app for those times you want to manually activate it. No need to tell me about the bad vs good with this app I am aware of the debate that's ongoing. I can however say I have seen it fix many problems like yours within the Warp "Without any repercussions" Good Luck And Have A Great Day.

Tom.

This is exactly why I and others put together roms, stripping out things that were not needed and replacing stock apps that caused issues. I came up with n00b ROM and have seen very few issues running it, this is a very low end phone but the top few custom ROMs can make it actually a joy to use
