Root Warranty concern

So, I've just about given all I got into trying to solve the 2 big issues on my nexus 4... First the battery drain, doesn't get more than 9 hours of battery life on idle and lastly my phone will not connect to my win7 pc, no notification, no pop ups, usb debugging on, connections set to mtp, drivers installed uninstalled and reinstalled. Nothing...

So I want to give Google a call and see if a replacement is possible. Only problem is... My boot loader is unlocked and can't lock it because I can't get my phone to connect to the computer. Now my phone issues are hardware problems (so I assume) and I was wondering if Google would still replace my phone if it came to that. I read somewhere they would so long as it wasn't a software malfunction. Any thoughts?

Since your bootloader is unlocked, did you by any chance install a custom recovery and then eliminate the auto reinstall of the stock recovery?

I do not... When I flashed 4.3, had to do it with wugs doing flash stock/ unroot to actually flash

Alright, that makes things significantly harder. Does the computer react at all in the device manager when you plug the phone in? Try different USB ports and/or cords just in case.

Nope, nothing. Doesn't show in device manager, not even the sound when you connect it. My phone also doesn't show anything on the notification tray, only charging. USB debugging is enabled.

I haven't tried all the ports, I tried my fronts and 2 out of the 6 in the back. I tried my sisters cable and doesn't work. My sister's gnex connects just fine to my computer.

Same thing if it's in the bootloader? It would certainly be an odd situation if a computer won't read it, but it will charge.

Meh, for the Wireless ADB apps to work, you need root.

There's one that doesn't need root, but you need to be able to connect your phone to the PC to complete the setup. :(

Well poop... :/ anyway to downgrade to 4.2.2? I can airdroid the file. I just want to see if my battery issues pertains to 4.3

I've had reduced Battery life on 4.3, lost almost an hour of screen time on average. Downgrading to 4.2.2 will require getting either custom recovery on the device, or connection to a computer. Both seem impossible in this state. :(

I seem to be in a minority of one; my battery life got better after the update to 4.3. Got to be something related to usage patterns.

Not helpful in this thread though, I've scratched my head but can offer no useful suggestions to help with the OP's problem.

Ah well... I'm not surprised, this is LG, I've never once had a good lasting experience. I'm thinking maybe buying a new nexus 4 or go cheap and get a dopey Verizon texting phone for $40 on their prepaid

Hmmm, anyone know if it's possible to root over Bluetooth??? My computer has a Bluetooth adapter in it
