Help Warranty question from US

For anyone who lives in the United States and has bought a Galaxy S2 how does the warranty work. I called Samsung and they tell me they have nothing to do with it because it was made oversees. Anyone have any idea if i would be screwed if something was wrong with it?

Also....I guess depending on what country its from there is a chance the at&t 4G won't work, is that correct? Is there anything else I should be concerned about before buying this phone. I am really worried about the warranty. I just feel if i buy this phone for 600 and something goes wrong I have a 600 paper weight. I know they say the S2 is coming to america in the coming weeks but i just can't wait and sometimes weeks turns into months.
