Help Water Damage Help Please

Hi

I dropped my phone in a pan of boiling spuds last night (dont ask!). Anyway it was fished straight out, shaken dry as much as possible and put inside the cover of a hot water bottle to help dry it out.

Battery back in, phone on, everything seems fine. However, the menu key no longer works (it simply recuces the phone ring volume ). Obviously this is a pretty important button to have working. Is there a way of selecting what certain buttons do? I remember on some older phones this was a feature, but know it may be wishful thinking. If not, any other ideas?

Also, for whatever reason, when online it wont let me his 'enter'. For example, if I type something into google, it wont let me hit enter to actually search. Again - any ideas?

I'm going to try and put it in rice over night to try and properly dry it out, but other than that I'm a bit stuck.

Any help appreciated.

rice may help a little and prolong the life but, unfortunately, it sounds like the damage has been done. it will probably only get worse, i'm afraid.

insurance job?

This is for anyone else..

The trick is to immediately put it in rice with the battery disconnected.

Like evil said, it could prolong the life but eventual component degradation is inevitable.

The sooner you rice it, the longer it can last, providing you haven't been soaking it.in the bath for a week

Cheers, I think!

It's been in rice since last night, so fingers crossed. It's almost more frustrating that everything works apart from the menu button, which is pretty important really. There is nothing else wrong with it.

I have it covered on my home insurace, but think thats only for theft.
