Someone once claimed that having the phone in the bathroom (too often) while taking hot showers can activate the sticker too...

I ALWAYS remove my sticker and place it on the plastic wrapping around the manual in my cell phone box. If I have a problem with the phone, I'll replace the sticker before going to Verizon. I don't feel it's cheating since daily humidity can change these stickers and void your warranty. Now that's cheating! By Verizon!
