If all you're looking for is to flash roms and kernels with the added pleasure of removing bloatware and use apps for rooted phones then the answer is no. If you want to change things like your start up animation and flash radios then the answer would be yes.

at this point it is not necessary to get s-off with the og evo. you can pretty much do everything that a s-off phone can do. the only thing you can't do is upgrade your radios. you can still do bootanimations and splashscreens, but you will have to do it differently.
