Help Waze and Car Speakers

I tried finding the answer to this on the community forum of Waze, but other than to find out a few people have experienced this problem, I could not find a solution.

I cannot get the navigation instructions to play through my car speaker except during a phone call. It will only play through the phone's speaker.

Yes, I have bluetooth set to play both media and phone calls. Yes, i can play podcasts and music through the speakers fine.

No, it doesn't matter whether I am using an application that uses the bluetooth (like a podcast) or the XM radio. I get no navigation instructions except through the phone's speaker.

Like I said. If I am on a phone call using the car's speakers, then Waze uses the car's speakers.

I am very frustrated.

Waze Release 3.8.0.0
Android Version 4..4.2

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've not used Waze for a long time, but I seem to remember an option in Waze's settings for this. Have a look in the app's preferences.

From reading on the Waze forum, it seems there used to be a preference for this in settings, but the latest version does not have it.

You can easily rollback to 3.7.8 if 3.8.0 is broken for you.

I don't use Waze either, but if you have an Aux. port, just use that instead. (It uses less battery then bluetooth.)

Thanks Guys:

Miraculously, it is working now when I am am connected via Bluetooth. I would love it to interrupt with directions via bluetooth when I am on Satellite radio like the installed (but useless) chevy navigation does, but that is asking too much.

I spoke to soon. It only works when I make a wrong turn and Waze recalculates directions and then only at low volume. This is so frustrating.
