We get kit kat!!

Thom,

Is this a guaranteed fix though? I don't want to mess around with moving all my pictures and files, just for it to do the same thing.

No it is not a guaranteed fix.

The probability is that you will do a Factory Data Reset after a major system upgrade within three months of doing the upgrade. The point is to do it when it is the least inconvenient as opposed to when you are backed into a corner.

Running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you installed without uninstalling them) might point indicate if you have a bad app inducing the problems.

Thom,

Just did Factory Reset....... And it did nothing to change my problem. Phone is still confused when Bluetooth and WIFI are on together. This sucks...... Complete downgrade for me.

If anybody has any ideas or confirmed fixes, I am all ears....

Word to the wise for anybody that has not "upgraded" yet, DON'T!!! JellyBean was much better.... I now miss it, as well as a properly functioning phone....

Just to finish the analysis ... After the Factory Data Reset did you try running in Safe Mode? If you did and you have the problem I suggest you report it to Verizon/Motorola.

After I loaded KK, I tried to do a cache wipe and noticed the procedure changed. From the triage screen, simultaneously pressing volume up / volume down did not work for me. Holding volume up and pressing power brought up the menu with the wipe cache option.

FWIW, other than having to reload a couple apps, I found no need to do a data reset. Everything is working great on my Maxx HD.

I have the same problem. When bluetooth and wifi are on together, the wifi freezes. It isn't instantaneous...but within fifteen minutes I will have a frozen wifi connection. The second I turn off bluetooth, the wifi comes back on.

I did a bunch of research this weekend. It appears that this is a Kitkat issue related to a new bluetooth "stack" built for Kitkat that causes interference with wifi. It doesn't just affect the Razr series and, from what I can tell, not every phone in a given model is affected. There are more than a half dozen suggested workarounds, but none of them appear to be very successful. I've tried them all (renaming bluetooth handset, two factory resets, turning wifi on first, resetting your routers--I have two routers, turning off 5GHz option on phone or on router, checking "keep wifi on during sleep," renaming wifi direct device name, deleting and re-pairing bluetooth device, running in ART instead of Dalvik, etc.) without success.

It's an issue for me because I used to stream audio at home with wifi over a bluetooth speaker, and now it doesn't work. I used to leave both on and bluetooth would automatically connect to my car so that I could use hands-free calling; now I have to remember to turn on bluetooth every time I get in the car and remember to turn it off and wifi on when I get home so that I don't burn through data. Not the end of the world, but still irritating.

I had a lengthy tech chat with Verizon. In the end, they are sending me a replacement phone. I have no idea whether the replacement will just end up having the same issue.

EDIT: Mark at the Motorola Forums gave me a solution that appears to have fixed my problem. Motorola has listed a help topic on their website that states, "Connections between your phone and Bluetooth Low Energy devices such as FitBit or Beets HRM may disrupt Wi-Fi communications."

I have a FitBit. It doesn't show up in the paired devices and I hadn't re-paired it after the update but when the app was restored after my FDR the box for "sync in the background" was checked. I unchecked that and I've been able to maintain a WiFi connection for the last hour.

Notbitter,

I have the exact same problems and exact same situation. Use to be able to wifi at home and listen to bluetooth speaker. Now not. And have a fitbit, and now it won't sync with wifi on. Turn wifi off and it syncs. Last week, and wiuth JellyBean, I was fine. This week, with KK, JUNK!!

I did a Factory Reset, and it didn't help.

Thom,

I did the Safe Mode check and it would still lock up when wifi and BT are on. When BT is on, just shuts down wifi.

This is frustrating.

I guess I need to visit Verizon...... What a joke....

Notbitter,

Try something for me. Turn on wifi, without BT, and bring up Pandora. Let music play and then pair your BT speaker. Let me know what happens. I was able to get both to work. But if you turn BT on before playing thru wifi, it doesn't work.

I added a brief edit above. My issue related to my Fitbit (which I had not paired to the phone after the update, but it was on in the app and reconnected anyway).

There is a known issue with "BLE" (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices. These are devices, such as my Fitbit Flex, that use a specific bluetooth protocol to connect in the background to the phone. Once I turned the connection off in the Fitbit app, my problem went away. My speaker uses traditional bluetooth. I have been able to connect now without incident, whether or not my bluetooth is on before or after the WiFi. I don't know if your speaker uses this BLE, but it may be worth looking into.

Still no update.

Now it checks for updates but then says "Checking for updates is not available at this time. Try again later." Sometimes it'll check for a minute or two before giving me the alert and sometimes it's right away. It's been doing that since last night.

I have this same problem.... Any help?

I am having some issues with my bluetooth as well since the update (and it is happening with 2 different bluetooth devices and multiple audio players, so I know it is on the phone's end). The audio keeps cutting in and out (choppy), like it would sound if I were to listen in the car to a radio station with a weak signal. This is different sounding than the long-known problem many of us have suffered through where it sounds like music is skipping.

Any suggestions (other than "did you do a FDR?")

Why, did you already do a FDR and it did not help? I ask this as from that, without wifi configured etc., did you have this issue with BT audio?

I know everyone is ticked about Swype. But wait til you start seeing issues with WIFI and Bluetooth at the same time. FRUSTRATING!!! JellyBean allowed me to run WIFI and Bluetooth AT THE SAME TIME to play music from my home WIFI. With KitKat, you get one or the other. I have a corporate email account as well. After update, that stopped working. Had to uninstall and reinstall the account. I have a Fitbit step counter, that stopped syncing. I had to uninstall/reinstall the app, and it still only syncs WHEN WIFI IS OFF..... UGGGHHHHHH!!! How did Beta testing miss this.... This needs to be fixed or roll me back to JellyBean!!!

Yup, I want JellyBean back. No existing bluetooth pairings would work after update but they still existed. Had to delete and re-pair. If you have an Audi, you won't like the result. If WIFI is off, Bluetooth will not connect to the car. Phone now refuses to sync contacts with Audi's MMI, at least on mine. Very frustrating.

Audi mmi delete the pairing and maybe also delete the phone book. After pairing the phone will prompt for contact access. Let it sync fully before turning off either.

Have done all of that. Missed calls, recent calls, answered calls all were brought over but not the contacts. But a guy on the Audi forum with the same issue with his HTC had the solution. Delete the call detail records on the phone. As soon as I did that, contacts were populated in the Audi Phonebook. Very odd, but it worked.

My daughter could not stand the loss of Swype so I directed her to the Google keyboard. Needless to say she is happier now.

so both myself (RazrHD) and my gf (RazrM) got the shitkat update. Now we cant receive incoming picture textsfrom anyone. We are both using Handcent as our messaging app.
I also I dont care for the white on the notification bar and I havent tried it yet but if the wifi BT thing is true Im going to be VERY unhappy. I use wifi to stream music to my BT speaker.

Same problem on Handcent for me too. I switched to Chomp after trying all of the other top-rated text apps. Problem solved. It also pops up texts over the lock window which was a requirement for me.
