Help weather details and location in photos?

Location is easy, if you have either Wifi or GPS Sat turned on. If you have Wifi location on, you don't even need to be connected to it to get your approximate location. And if you have GPS sat on, it will get your exact location. The phone could also triangulate your location by using the cell towers. I am not sure how it gets which road you are on though unless you had been on that road before it is cached in the map app or camera app? I am not sure about the weather either. Maybe it was cached when you left the hotel or house or the last data available location?

Okay I figured out the location part. When you take a picture while you have no data connection, it fills in the longitude and latitude in the "location" field. You can see this by putting the phone in airplane mode and take a picture then look at the Detail of the picture in Gallery. Now once you turn airplane mode off, you will see that it fills in that location field with the road, city, country address matching the longitude and latitude.
Thank youbut where does it get road names from? Is it a server or Google maps?
As far as I know, Google Map app does not store local map data other what is cached on the area around the last accessed map. So the road names would be from Google's server.

Ok so the accuweather app is linked to google?
I don't think so. I would think accuweather app is linked to accuweather.com server. I am not sure how the weather tag on a photo works. It could be that it snapshots the current weather from accuweather.com using the longitude and latitude of the photo. Now if you don't have data connection at the time of the picture was taken, it could just get the info later on when you re-establish data connection. It may uses the timestamp of the picture to go back in history at accuweather server to look for the weather at the time of the picture, but it seems like a lot of work, so I don't know.
