Weather Widget ....lag Loading?

Sketchr

I had to exchange my first EVO 3D. Everything was working great. Reception, data, camera 3d and 2d. But...suddenly the device froze up.I would reboot and then it would freeze. Over and over. I now have a new device. And now I'm probably over analyzing the speed and efficiency of this new model, lol.

So, I'm wondering...does it take a few seconds lag...and the message "loading comes up before the actual weather conditions display? It seems my previous device loaded it very quickly...like almost instantly. Instead the screen goes black for a few seconds before the sun/clouds come up? Is this everyone elses experience and I just had one before that was quicker...or am I just paranoid now?

The phone grabbed an update after activating at the store. And, I just checked and there was another one. But there still is a slight delay when pressing the weather icon at the top (after unlocking screen) the "loading weather" message shows for a few seconds. I just don't remember that with my previous device. Yeah I'm sort of OCD on this, but I want to make sure all is well with this phone. Does the message show on your device?

Mine shows it for about 3/4 of a second.

My weather is set to auto update, but it does a real-time weather update when you tap the widget.

I'm only running a few things, I'm going to try it with lots running - now I'm curious.

how many apps do you have loaded? how many are running in the background? sounds like a low memory issue to me... need more info though...

At the time I was experiencing this I hadn't loaded but 5-6 of my apps on the device. I wanted to play around with it first to make sure it was ok.

Mine shows the loading weather message for a few seconds when I go into it. As EarlyMon says it updates when ever you load it so it will cause a delay.

Ok, consensus is that it does take a few seconds when going into it. I just don't remember that happening before. Probably because I was in awe of the feature:cool: and wasn't skeptical of receiving a faulty device. My very first EVO on launch day was perfect from day one while many seemed to have probs. Same with my Thunderbolt. So I've been lucky up until the EVO3D.

Yeah, got it.

New out of the box, things are likely settling in, there may be extra syncing going on - that's going to slow things down on net ops like the weather check, for sure.

Look at your notification bar for the two arrows chasing each other in a circle - sync icon - ensure that's NOT popping up lots and lots unless you've config'd to have things behave that way (FB, etc, etc).

PS - Remember you well from both other forums, btw, can't stand that you're having 3vo trouble. ;)

ive got a weather widget on the homescreen. its not the flip clock one but another one in a smaller box.

i click on it and it says in a black box "loading weather" and it displays for a second or less. i then get the accuweather animation. is this what you are experiencing sketchr?

Yes, that's exactly what I've been experiencing. Though, yesterday it held onto that message for a couple seconds longer than today. After breaking in the device, a few reboots, battery pull...all of that and now it seems to be settling in as EarlyMon indicated. So far so good. :D
