Help Weather Widget wont Recognize my Location

I have these settings enabled and my phone wont recognize my location:

Location - Use wireless networks 'Location determined by Wi-fi and/or mobile networks'

Accounts and sync > Background data 'Applications can sync, send and receive data at any time'

Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Enable always-on mobile data

P.S. I am in Chico, Ca.

I just switched back to sense to check the htc widget on my phone and its working (im in laredo, tx) and so is maps.

Is it not coming up with any info or is the info for a location close by?

actually happened to me too. Today I went 3.5 hours away halfway across NY state, and my HTC clock widget is stuck in my old city, and any efforts to change it have been futile. I have no connections to my old city even (hooked up to new wifi, etc).

Depends on how often you have the "auto update/sync" set to.

You can go from 1 hour to like 12 hrs. If its set on the default of 6 hours, then your location and weather will most likely NOT update.

If your DEFAULT location wont update, just key in your ZIP code into the options for the widget.

i have autosync ever 3 hours, and when I click on the widget, it shows my current city for a split second, and then shifts to my old city. Also I cannot find a place to insert my zip code. and i'm not in a world city of course.

Mine was stuck on NYC for a while too, I think I fixed it by having the weather update automatically. Don't ask me why that worked when manually updating it didn't, but now it is saying the correct 'current city'.

It was a very quick fix, and I hope it was the reason why it didn't update for a little while. Someone had posted something about the Gmail issues, and just telling my phone to 'auto-sync' (Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Auto-sync) fixed all the problems I had with both the gmail getting the emails well after the AT&T mail app and this weather thing.

Wow, thanks to everyone. My weather location was stuck on my work location (I thought because that's where I was when I activated the phone). It was doing the same thing - flashed my home location then went back to work location. I just now enabled auto sync and it picked up my home location (even though I'm at work, weird but I'll take it).

This is great forum for a newbie

The HTC Weather widget lacks most cities by location. I live in a >100k city, and it isn't found in the list when adding cities manually.

What's up with that?

so freakin stupid how the manual sync doesn't work. Isn't "auto" sync simply pushing the button for you. Doesn't make sense.

It fixed my location though. When I would go to work, it would switch from Orlando to Maitland, FL. But, it doesn't switch back. Now that its on auto sync, it switched right back even though I hit sync quite a few times.

I will give that fix a shot. I was told by HTC it was their problem and they where working on it...
Thanks for the info!

PS

It worked.. thanks again!

Same problem (Weather widget updates for LA when I live in SD) except I've never been to LA since I've had the Inspire. I've deleted LA from the list of cities a bunch of times, added san diego, moved san diego to the top of the list, and all is right in the world until I exit to home screen and LA is back on the list and is the only one which EVER shows on my homescreen.

I turned on auto update within the widget and through general settings, plus all three of my location services are on.

San Diego isn't a small town. Wtf?

Thank you, Tsacca, you answered my problem as well. This was a complete mystery to me.

I would like to control when my gmail synchs, but it looks like the auto Sync option is either on or off for several services including these two. At least I know how to get the weather location to change when I need it to!
