webOS 3.05 coming soon

I hoped you were kidding, but wasn't sure.

I just boot into webOS when my wireless refuses to work. It magically makes things better. :D

I can't imagine any reason to upgrade, since I haven't booted to WebOS once since installing Android :p

Unfortunately, that link was dead for me. When you say "remove the boot menu" do you mean I will not be able to dual-boot CyanogenMod ROMs and webOS anymore? :(

I REALLY value being able to choose which operating system I can boot into when I need to. I hope what you said above means something different or perhaps you could elaborate on what you meant. ;)

It only means that the install of the WebOS update overwrites the part where the boot menu is loaded - so you have to re-install it. That's all - it doesn't kill the ability to dual boot, it only temporarily disables it.

So, by reinstall the boot menu, I assume you mean reflash CyanogenMod 7.1 when webOS is updated? I also suppose this will happen with every new update of webOS on the HP TouchPad from now on?

Thanks for your insight. It is much appreciated.

Yep, you just go through the standard reinstall process and it'll drop everything back into place. And yes, you can probably expect to do this any time WebOS is updated.

Not sure if this will wipe out your user settings and apps; those things should be in a safe partition away from WebOS stuff, but maybe someone else can answer.

Installing via the Acme installer is still the recommended way to install CM7 on your Touchpad. You should download the latest version each time you install.

Supposedly the latest version of AcmeInstaller is supposed to be resistant to webOS updates breaking the boot menu.

When I updated to webOS 3.0.4, all I had was webOS and had to:

  • boot into webOS
  • copy my cwm, moboot and cm7 files to my cminstall folder
  • boot into recovery
  • run the acme installer

Once that was done, I had my moboot menu again and my original CM7, complete with apps.
