Weird/Ambiguous Warnings

Hippos do that. That makes s**t stew.
Kid saw one do it at the zoo when she was small. That gave her the giggles for a week.

Later she drove school buses and took kids to the same zoo. She had time to wander and got to the hippo enclosure, talked to the keeper about it and got to pet the new baby hippo.

A pet peeve for many years now. Not many motors are symmetrical enough to allow one to put head gaskets on upside down......But it can happen.

If you have it correct, you don't need the confirmation.
If you have it wrong, what would be truly helpful is a big, red, in your face, last chance "banner warning" on the bottom........"TRY AGAIN, DUMMY":D

I assume you are refering to "TRY AGAIN DUMMY", 'cause that's the one I'm much more familiar with.;)

All seriousness aside; The other one I'm only vaguely familiar with; Can't tell you who said it or know the context; And not sure I quoted it properly / completely. Better look into it.

Figured the vertical carets indeed referred reader to the message directly above; And then context of the discussion leads the reader to related messages in close proximity. Potato, Potatoe.;)
Seriously, though...Are there commonly accepted, standard usages for ^^^^^ and similar shorthand? I'm listening, happy to learn.
And wouldn't divert a thread in such manner if it were anyone but OP, sorry all.

But the real elephant in the room.......I looked into that quote; I surely did. And finally figured out where I had heard it. And now realize just how badly I have stepped...........in............. it.:eek:

There are three or four areas I promised myself I would never have anything to say about online.
