Help weird battery problem?

hi,

i have 2 batteries as i never like the idea of power banks.

recently the battery that came with the phone (bought in dec 2012 and the spare one about 1 or 2 months later) had some issues.

i was taking photos using its own camera and while taking halfway the phone restarted by itself. but it didn't restart normally, instead it flashed the "galaxy note 2" screen and disappeared and flashed that galaxy screen again and again and again. normally it will flash the "samsung" logo then to the home screen but it just showed the galaxy logo. but my spare batt works completely fine.

i removed the batt and placed it back in and same thing happened. trial and error a few times, first i tried to connect to the power and let it charge overnight and it actually worked for a cycle. the 2nd time after i charged it using the battery charger (both batt and charger are original), same thing happened again. 2nd method that worked is unless i connect it to the power. once i disconnect it, it stopped working again, connect it back, it worked again BUT it wasn't charging. until i disconnected it again it went back to the flashing of galaxy...

i know its definitely the batter issue so i tried to search online and saw a video on youtube that i could try to use a pin to scrape the connector on the batter itself as sometimes tricks like this would work. but....not lucky enough.

wondering if anyone has a similar issue. i know i could just replace it with new one but just puzzled, like it works with the cable connected but lost its connectivity once disconnect.

I would boot it into download mode and flash a custom recovery.
Then I would make a backup.
Then I would wipe everything and flash a fresh rom.

but when i put in another battery, it works normally like any phone... thats the strange part. so i guess its just battery prob?

Yea I know.
So use another battery.

But that is still what I would do.
Of course I currently have a custom recovery and rom and have a backup of all my apps with titanium so a reflash takes me about 30 mins and my phone is back to exactly how I had it.

One of my batteries started giving me problems, I took it out and tried to spin it on a table. Spined like a child's toy, battery was starting to bulge. Threw that one out and bought another one. Now it's working just fine
