Root Weird Issue with Governors.

Okay, so I don't know what caused this but my phone was set to SmartassV2 and 2xx and 1.4xx and I think it may have occurred after switching themes in Hashtags theme chooser. But now I have NO available governors to choose is CPU Tuner or System Rom Toolbox's CPU settings menu and it set me to 1.6ghz automatically. It also put me back on OnDemand governor although I have none to choose from.

I just reflashed giantpunes kernel as well. The most current one as I was already on it. And my governors are still gone. Someone plz help me. :( Cpu tuner also says my current configuration is not usable.

Exactly what I was going to suggest first. Provided you've a recent nandroid backup, I would try clearing your cache and dalvik cache, and if that doesn't work then try formatting /system in recovery and then restoring from a backup just the /system portion, then wipe cache and dalvik again to be safe, and see what happens.

But that's weird, I'll admit.

I also went back to the 9/28 version just now and it didn't work either. I know it's kinda scaring me to be honest. But ok I will try that. I hope that works because my most recent nandroid was last week. Will I lose my messages or anything doing that?

I believe those are in /data. If you only format /system and then restore /system, you should be fine.
A quick google search verifies they are in /data for android.

EDIT: Another venue you might attempt is running Leslie's Update_ROM_Elite.zip, then flashing your ROM of choice. You won't lose your data, and that should accomplish both a fresh install of /system as well as a fresh install of the kernel.

After hitting the Sophisticated config in Cpu Tuner I am able to go over to Virtual Governors and create a virtual SmartassV2. All the governors Giantpune put it in his kernel are available by me making a virtual one but then I have to have CPU Tuner running constantly, and it's ugly in the status bar.

In order to gain the benefits of cpu tuning, you do need the app to constantly run. As with any cpu tuner app, I believe. Look in the options for CPU Tuner, there is a way to turn off the icon in the status bar. I have it, and have it always running, at 2xx - 16xx and smartassV2, and the icon turned off :)

System Rom Toolbox never runs. I just have it set for the basic SmartassV2, 2xx and 14xx and to set at boot. But it just randomly changed governors and set me to 16xx. I didn't do anything to cause this. And I tried your method and it didn't resolve it. I need giantpunes help since it's his kernel. x.x This is frustrating. I even restored my boot.img from my nandroid as well and nothing. I just can't figure out why my governors aren't there. I can't even figure out why it's doing this. I can't even set it back to 14xx even with. CPU tuner. It only goes to 16xx or 2xx for the max and min.

Yep, giantpune or ktb I'd say would know a lot more about this. Because everything I said is what I would have done, or would have guess could/would be done. Good point about ROM ToolBox, I had stopped using it a while back and had forgotten about that.

Well, Mr. Pune, we leave it up to you.

Now CPU Tuner is force closing and not responding after setting it up completely. If I check the compatibility in the settings before it force closes tho, it shows all the governors I should have, saya they are fully working, but I don't think System Rom Toolbox can read it. And Rom Toolbox is different. Not the yellow app, I'm using a green looking one.

Yeah and sadly it's the holidays, so ktb and pune haven't been on a lot. *sighs* this dumb phone just had to shit on me didn't it?

Well I got SetCPU and it reads them fine. I don't think the problem was my.kernel, I think it was System Rom Toolbox and I might have a bad understanding of CPU Tuner lol. All well, problem resolved thread can be closed.

Have you tried a full wipe and fresh flash? If the governors come back, try advance restoring each partition one at a time, starting with data. If the governors disappear you'll know where the corruption is.

IMO, with a severe issue like this the best course is a full wipe, clean flash. I also like CPU Master better, for free, Setcpu, paid. Cpu tuner got a little glitchy and FC's since late October, for me.

Edit, a little late, lol.

Yeah, I just need something basic. I just wanna set the governor and frequencies. I don't care for profiles and thresholds and crap.
