Hey all I hope I amn't repeating what others have asked but I've done a search both here and on other sites as well as google and I can't get an answer.
Basically I've just got a DHD last week and I decided to root it. I decided to use Paul O'Brians VISIONary app and followed instructions to first temproot and then permanently root. Everything seemed to work without a hitch.
I was able to su. So the first thing I wanted to do with root was to remove some bloat. I first of all just went into my terminal emulator, mounted the relevant folder ( /system/app/ ) and deleted the bloatware. Everything seemed to work fine and the bloat was gone.
Then I rebooted and while I still had root (I was able to su) the bloatware had reappeared.
I then tried to use the Titanium backup app to remove the bloatware. Again, it removed it fine and everything was good until I rebooted the device and the bloatware reappeared.
So could anyone please answer some questions for me.
1. Am I doing something completely wrong ? Are these apps been reinstalled by the system or am I not removing them correctly ?
2. I don't particularly want (but neither am I against the idea of) a custom rom, as I quite like HTC sense and some HTC apps but I would like to modify it to my liking. i.e. remove bloat & some HTC apps, install my own preferred apps. Is this even possible or do I need to install a rom ?
Thanks all in advance.
