Weird notif message

Woke up this morning to a weird notification message. The app was Boost Zone and message was roughly 'money trasnf ...' Upon clicking the notification, Boost Zone opened up and I had an error message.

I saw money transfer options in Boost Zone but: I do not have any bank account associated with Boost Zone so no actual transfer could have been attempted.

Considering I am extremely cautious about any (very few) apps I install, I do not know where this came from.


End result: tonight I will eject my SDcard, wipe my phone, and reinstall the OS. Also I thought I would post this as a warning to other SGS2 owners to be cautious.

Hmm The first thing I did was remove Boost zone (and Sprint zone for GB27) as part of my bloat removing procedure. So needless to say, I don't have it. Have you checked with Boost about it?

Haven't checked with Boost, main reason is after 'opening' the notification it disappeared. I have nothing to show or any trail to check.

Normally I de-bloat like you, but the version of GC01 I am running had minimal bloat.

I am curious what the cause was, but I haven't tied any banking type records into my phone so I should be clean. In the past I have (rarely) checked my Boost account off this app but it is toast in a couple hours.

Hopefully others will get something from this and be on their guard.

Why not consider simply removing boost zone thru titanium backup at this point?

Cause I'm not sure what actually caused it. There might be a separate malware app that pushed the attempt.

Wiped/Reinstalled stock GC01, thinking I might try a slightly modded TW ROM. Overall very happy w JB but a couple tweaks would be nice.

Touched by S4 seems OK, but possibly a bit more modding than I want/need.

Any suggestions? Extended power menu, de-bloated, maybe a CPU saver/overclocking tweak, I am happy w the overall feel of TW-JB.



edit: TBS4 downloaded in time so I installed over stock/rooted. Gonna test for a day or 2.

yeah you can do one like kobriges one, and flash the tweakes you like. Agat made a new source built kernel for the TW jelly Bean that supports oc/uv etc I ran version 1.30 of his okay.

After a ton of reading I ROMmed up on Kobridge w/ extended toggles.

Extended power options part of the toggles and not sure I need CPU OC/UV, but always an option for later.

Reminds me of the old 'choose your own adventure' type novels with links on top of links.
