Help Weird SMS problems for Refurb Skyrocket

So I recently ditched my iphone and picked up a refurbished Skyrocket. I love it except there are a few problems with texting.

1) My friends have been saying I send double or triple texts occasionally

2) When I send texts, sometimes it just says "Sending..." and never switches over to the time signature. Usually it does switch to the time signature and works fine.

The "Message Sent" popup does almost always show up, no matter if it says "Sending..." or switches to the date. People usually respond to this type of message, but I can never tell if its been sent or not, which is a problem.

3) A couple people have received between 2-35 older text messages from me at once (they've sent me screenshots of things I sent and they responded to weeks or days ago).

To note: I am running the SMS popup app (although the problems had cropped up before I installed it i think).

Any ideas? AT&T was very unhelpful.

I had the same problem when I installed GO SMS, fixed it by going into the stock app settings and turning off notifications and push messages (I don't think push disable is necessary but I did both). That should stop the multiple messages.

Unfortunately, I already had notifications off in the default SMS client...

Would you consider trying the GO SMS app? It seems to have the same features as SMS popup and there is an option to deselect in the settings for multiple text problems. Other than that, try contacting the app developer for a solution.

I've read of several people having this issue on the skyrocket, seems to be a conflict issue between the stock messenger and downloaded messengers, if you were interested in rooting the phone you should be able to uninstall the stock messenger and eliminate the conflict.

Ok - I will uninstall SMS popup and install go SMS. What settings should I be using in the stock SMS and GO SMS?

Menu>settings>important tips>stock sms uninstalled>uncheck the box (if not already).

Notifications and push messages off in the stock messenger.

This would have you set up as my phone is, which worked for stopping the multiple texts. Hope it works for you

may not be related to your issues but I had numerous SMS problems with my skyrocket until I deactivated my iPhone from iTunes.

You're welcome, hope it works out long term. In regards to the iPhone problem, sounds like what happened to me; after activating the skyrocket I was receiving texts on the iPhone and not the SR, even though the sim card wasn't active. I had left the iMessage on, just had to turn that off and the texts came through to the SR.

I had to back up my iphone and then restore it. I set it up as a new device and my Skyrocket SMS issues went away. I only had issues receiving texts from iPhones.
