Help Weird voicemail/call issue, help please...

I just found out I'm not getting any notifications that I have Voice mails. So I tried to call myself from a land line, phone did not ring and it went straight to Voice mail. I left a test message. I never got any notification in my bar at the top that I missed a call or that I have a voice mail.

When I went to the "Voice mail" app to check for the 2 voice mails that someone told me they left me, only one was in there. Then it dialed my voice mail and the 2nd message was in there along with 4 others that were never reported to me in the Voice mail app and notifications. Looks to me that I do have "Notifications" turned on and I have no numbers in the block call list.

My questions:

1) I did not Update the Voice mail app because it looks like they've added some feature they are wanting to charge for. Would that be messing up my voice mail and be why I get no notifications?

2) I did an "Update PRL" and "Update Profile" last week. Would that have messed anything up?

3) What would cause my phone to go to voice mail? I don't have any bright bars at work, but I was receiving calls in the past.

4) Without using voice mail app, is there another way to get to voice mail?

thanks

I'm able to receive calls now. Not sure what happened. After that, later last night, the phone kinda locked up and acted weird. So I rebooted it for the 1st time in awhile.

I did a test call this morning, it rang, and I didn't answer, but instead left a voice mail. I got a missed call notification in the bar, but no voice mail notification. Shouldn't I get a voice mail notification? Any ideas why I wouldn't?

I am rooted, but that is it - I didn't remove any pre-installed apps.

thanks

sometimes phones act out or it could be network issues. I've had a problem not getting any text but i did get calls ..

I just went into traditional voice mail by holding down the 1 key to verify that I had actually set up my voice mail, and I had. Tested again. Get a call not answered notification in the bar, but still no voice mail notification (yes I left a message). :(
I used to Link2SD to Freeze the Visual Voice mail app, but still no love.

If I update the visual voice mail to see if that helps, is there a setting in it that can be set to keep you out of the features that there is a charge to use?

Well I updated the visual voice mail app and I still get no notification that I have a voice mail. So I "froze" the app again.

I guess I'll just have to remember every time I miss a call to check to see if I have voice mail. :(
