Well I'll be blowed!!

You're absolutely right and it's 13th July. I have never considered 13 to be an unlucky number :), and have always considered it to be lucky for me, I was my father's birthday present on 13th July 1947 :).
You're kidding! You're not kidding. July 13th was my mother-in-law's birthday. My cousin was born on her mother's birthday. John Lennon's younger son, Sean, was born on his birthday. What a great gift for your dad! And a tough one to top! :D

Wow! Yet another 'coincidence'?

:)
I know! It's getting kind of...weird. :o

Nah, I like it. I wonder what else might pop up? My mom's birthday was July 6th, exactly a week before my MIL's [different years]. My husband's is July 16th; we got married on July 2nd. Mine is December 8th...which sadly has never been the same since 1980. :(

Oh, my daughter was our April Fool's Day gift! "I'm here, Mommy--all 10 pounds of me! Surprise!" :D

I like it too. To think that our two families have celebrated the 13th July for all these years, and not just that, but to also have had a new arrival on the day is more than weird.

It would be interesting to put it into a number cruncher and see what the odds are!!!!!!

:D:D:D

My gardenia and camellia bushes have arrived! I forgot to tell you.

They're going to stay in their pots for a few more days, getting watered. My helper offered to plant them, so she'll do it, not the gardeners. I verified that we have a big bag of potting soil, so when she digs the holes, I'll have her put some of that in first, then backfill with it after placing each bush.

Fingers crossed! :)

I don't know why, exactly, @tommo47, but for some reason when I came across this pic, I thought of you. So I'm sharing:

There's a whole sequence of shots of these two mourning doves splashing and drinking in the birdbath. They made me happy. :)

How are things going on your side of the pond? An update on how you're feeling and everything would be appreciated.

Hi @MoodyBlues, thanks for sharing that. You won't believe this, but we have an almost identical pot stand at the hotel, another 'coincidence'?. We brought the very large pot with us which now contains one of two fuschias planted last year, but had to leave the stand as it is really heavy. Hopefully we will arrange for it to be uplifted at some point in time.

Our wagtails are quite active, they have definitely got a nest in one of the wisteria, Chris has put a water bowl out for them.

Your post is time!y, not for the first time either :).

I should have updated yesterday really, it was supposed to be the start of cycle six of the chemotherapy, but when I arrived at the oncology unit the bad news was that the blood sample taken the day before revealed a seriously low red blood count which meant they couldn't start the IV drip.

So I'm back at the hospital today for a blood transfusion which, hopefully, will boost up the count sufficiently to start the sixth and final cycle next Wednesday.

It explains why, for the last two weeks or so, I've had serious dizzy spells and difficulty going up and down stairs and have been in bed most of the time which we took as par for the course and took appropriate measures to avoid any problems. Chris's mum has a walking frame which she doesn't use now and that has been a great help, and I don't get out of bed unless Chris is with me.

The good news is that Watsonian, the sidecar manufacturers and my dealer are both back in operation and the fitting kit has been sent to my dealer for the assembly to be completed, I'm so excited!!!!! :D:D.

My 50 year old dream of a Triumph Bonneville 'rig' is about to become a reality!!!!

My 73rd birthday could be the best ever!!! :D.

Happy days!!!! :D:D:D:D:D.

Back to the garden, the honeysuckle is about to bud so I will post some photos as soon as they show.

Please keep me updated on your new bushes, and the tulips of course.

How are things in general for you at the moment?

Oh, I TOTALLY believe it! Like I said, I didn't know why, but for some reason I thought of you when I saw those pictures. :)

That birdbath is older than me. It was my grandparents', and I remember it from my very early childhood home in Pasadena. Before I got sick, something happened that caused a big deja vu moment.

My grandsons and I were in the backyard, and they were playing with some little cars and other toys. I took video of them skimming the toys across the water in the birdbath. It took me back to one [rare] event from childhood. One morning, it had been so cold overnight that the surface of the birdbath water froze. My doll, a 'Tiny Tears' doll, had ice skates. I put them on her and ice-skated her over the frozen surface as long as I could before it melted...

Were your doctors concerned about the low blood count, or is that to be expected during this stage of your treatment? How are you doing now?

As for me... meh... I'm in some kind of a slump. I can't pinpoint anything, I just feel blah. I'm sure it'll pass. It's nothing to worry about.

They didn't seem to be overly concerned, it was just that the red blood count was below the threshold for putting more chemo drugs Into my system. The referral to the blood transfusion unit seemed to be a standard response, and I feel much better now and look forward to starting the final cycle next Wednesday.

:)

It's all well and good you saying "it's nothing to worry about", but I don't like to think of you being 'out of sorts', and the sooner it does pass the happier I will be :).

Well, the 6th and final chemo cycle isn't going to happen :D:D.

My wife and I had a consultation with the senior oncology doctor this morning. The medical team have studied the latest C T Scan results, and the liver metastasis has reduced significantly. To the extent that they consider any benefits of another chemo cycle could be outweighed by the ongoing risk of contracting the Covid-19 virus. So they are going to arrange for a series of C T Scans to monitor the situation and take the appropriate action if there is any change.

Happy days :D:D

Bad news again I'm afraid. I was happily tucking into a corned beef hash dinner followed by a yoghurt. The corned beef hash went down ok but five spoonfuls into the yoghurt the reflux and froth problem started for the third time in a week.

So it's going to be a call to the medics asap.

At least it doesn't faze me like it used to, I just deal with the f*****g shite!!!

:(:D

Sounds like a very rough few days. I hope they will put both your minds at ease and figure something out.
