Well it looks like VM really is dropping the MT this time

Our phone was discontinued by Motorola, near the end of last year, was listed on the Motorola site when it happened for atleast a short while, Why VM still sells em idk, but i know that that need to keep a bunch on hand at the time of discontinue due to the fact that for awhile it was there most advanced phone which ment that there were still probly many users with it that still fell into there 1 year replacement area, so if they just dumped it they would have had to give ppl a different device for there replacement

Only thing i can hope for is that VM learned there lesson and only go with quality products now, cause for me personally the devs from this site are the only reason this phone is usable

whenever they run out of triumphs and then you try and get you a replacement they should send you a different phone. i remember asking them was there anyway at all i can get the evo v as a replacement instead of another jacked up triumph (since they costed the same at that time) and they told me the only way i can get a different phone was if it was discontinued and they didnt have anymore.

yea thats what im saying, VM possibly had like 100 of thousands in warehouse that they now want some $$ for, if not $$ then they use em for replacements, but the moment a company discontinues a product, or if that company were to go bankrupt that doesnt always mean its items gets pulled off shelves

just recently happened around where i live with hostess and there twinkies lol, they went 100% bankrupt and closed there doors no more twinkies, but stores still had shelves full of them, so ppl bought em all and started selling them for alot more $$ on ebay till another company bought the twinkie

Lmao I herd about that no more twinkes thing. A man was singing on the radio about no more twinkies lol had me rolling man lmao. But would yal say its virgin fault for how the triumph turned out or Motorola. I say Motorola because I read the the triumph was suppose to be virgin mobiles flagship smartphone so I know they had to plan on it getting updated at least once

I always say both, cause Motorola just bought and rebranded the phone, its a huwegui or whatever Motorola had the chance to test and fix it and really didn't

Then VM got it and I'm pretty sure there the only carrier so they after getting so many complains they could have threatened to drop it unless Motorola fixed some issues but they didn't

Both have some blame, Motorola could have atleast released all the source so the devs coulda had it much easier but they won't

i wonder what made them drop the official GB update. last year i believe it got leaked that there was a official GB update coming for the triumph but virgin mobile just canceled it or dropped the whole update

No clue, they teased us twice with it, back when I originally bought this phone I deff recall the vm website having a badge on this devices page that said GB Update coming soon or something, one of the reasons I bought the phone

Then they did it again the end of last year after Google took over android they pushed to upgrade all popular devices that could be upgraded, the triumph didn't make the cut, no Idea why except the fact that according to Motorola it was in the process of discontinuing it that's the only reason I can think of

Hopefully Google will change things with later devices, I read on a Google page somewhere that Google has been very upset with phone carriers/ manufacturers for awhile cause Google says alot of devices can have the android upgraded but only after the devices gets some regular security and other updates from the carriers/manufacturers and there not doing it on purpose cause they want ppl to buy new devices from them cause they want more $$, Google doesn't like that cause they then need to keep apps and games and support for all versions of android instead of being able to have it be like the latest 2 versions

well hopefully google will do something about it or make the manufacturers agree to at least one or two updates for the phone before getting the software. but imma probably hop over to ubuntu phone when ever that comes out. and i no its probably impossible but ill probably try bringing it to this phone

I really liked the Triumph when I first got it. Nice 4" screen, decent Qualcomm processor, nice thin form factor, HDMI out, HD video, FFC, etc. It was a good mid-range phone at a somewhat reasonable price. It was also on a cheap monthly plan ($25), and came out at a time where decent on-contract phones generally still cost $150-300, making it appealing over the long-term price-wise.

But that was almost two years ago. Selling a $180 phone that is still running Froyo today?? Who is buying them? Virgin should have either chosen to support this phone, or they should have dumped it many months ago (like once the Evo V 4G was $150).

Yea I wondered why virgin mobile had the triumph higher than the evo v

It's a catch 22, they don't want to just write them off sitting on their shelves but they don't really want to keep people on the grandfathered plan. It's still the nicest phone that you can use on the $25 plan. :D

Don't be silly, Motorola has long been a top tier manufacturer in the mobile communications industry, and not only was the Triumph by FAR the best prepaid android offering VM had had to date, it wasn't that far behind the contract boys either. Froyo may have been shortsighted and its processor was just above average, but the screen was beautiful, had Gorilla glass (a lot didn't) and it felt solid when you picked it up.
All had troubles with GPS, many had reliability issues, but not all of them- I got mine the week of launch and it's working great, even though next to 4.0 machines it's looking dated.
A few things like the battery door and the charge port, needed a bit of tweeking by a resourceful owner, nothing more.

None of the above reflects an intentional decision by VM to offer a mediocre product, or that most of us didn't feel we got our money's worth.

I recently convinced a friend to go with a VM android, and picked her up a Kyocera Rise at Walmart for $80. Yes it feels cheap, the screen is small but it works very well. 4.0 does a few things better than Froyo, it's mostly looks for me. It did change my mind about getting the Galaxy II.
To heck with that I want another slider. Real buttons rock, I'll take the hit in bulk.

I know Motorola has a Top Brand name if you will but and at the time the triumph was on of the top phones but the triumph isnt truly Motorola phone it rebranded, and with motorola being known as a top brand id think they would of tested and fixed a few of the well known issues, like as you said battery door and the charge port as well as the soft keys randomly not working and the lose of memory while running 100% stock and while as u said a resourceful owner could fix it they shouldnt have to, most of the reason the battery covers fall off is cause a piece of the back plate actually falls off, charge port should deff. have been fixed by someone besides the owner along with the bad soft keys

and i do love my phone, i just honestly could not stand Froyo that came stock with it and if the website hadn't said gingerbread upgrade soon or something along those lines i would have never bought the phone, and until i found this site i was actually saving my money to buy a new phone, now after finding this site ive been going more then a year with this phone with no issues to date except my battery is starting to go but thats to be expected ive accidently over charged it many times

also i dont believe that vm did anything on purpose, i think they like most people saw the motorola name and thought it would be a great product with great support and it ended up having a number of issues that were cause for replacements for customers and complaints from them

:D

Except for software issues, Sprint Signal issues and GPS Radio issues (I still think it is due to Sprint Signal issues), Triumph rocks! VMUSA and Motorola could have extended its life by few months with GB for ICS update. But they chose not to. At least they should do a favor to Triupmh Dev community and release all softwares / drivers so that Devs can take care of the issues.

On the bright side, it seems that something latest and greatest is on the horizon for VMUSA - do I smell a 4G LTE network and 4G LTE Device for VMUSA in 2013? It is about time VMUSA has Samsung Note II or LG Optimus G or something high end. Hopefully, Boost will get somethign great first then VMUSA.

:D

Well I don't think we have too much to worry about because as of today they are STILL selling it, it will thus be a long time before our hardware is in the dreaded "legacy" category with zero support.
I notice today a new Samsung phone, with the ominous name of "victory". Hmmm....

Yeah but the triumph is listed as while supplies last and the Victory is mid level device that's virgins first LTE device, hopefully by mid year we'll have a high end LTE device available. :D

i checked out the specs for the victory and its not something i would go buy i would save up for the next phone.

Exactly, lesser hardware than our phone for more $, plus I have pretty good Wimax where I'm at, hopefully by the end of year I'll have LTE coverage and a sweet phone to enjoy it with. :D:thumbup:

Yep I'll probably stick with the Triumph for another half year or so until something with a 4.7+ HD screen, dual core processor and 4G LTE lands on VM (*ahem* LTEVO *ahem*). For me, the GSII and HTC EVO 4G do not warrant an upgrade.

if there was any phone i would tell someone to go to i would say the s2. i got the evo v and i wish i would have went for the s2 at least its getting official jelly bean. im looking for the s3 to come to vm i hope and believe they will get it next.

Why not just switch to T-mobile's $30/mo plan? That's what I'm planning to do, anyway. Probably with a Nexus 4, Galaxy SII or III, or HTC One.

Also, FYI, looks like VM is totally out of MT's.

I'd like something with a close to 5" screen, a slider qwerty keyboard..... and how about something resembling a keypad, mini joystick or? Oh and let's make it ruggedized. I should be able to drunkenly pee or poop on it with no ill effects, not even smell bad.

Tritium back lighting on the lcd.

42x optical zoom

Sounds like something that would make a good blunt weapon...
