Root Well, lets get the ball rolling

Maybe a little guide for noobs for installing the version of lgnpst included in the guide. I wrote one up quick from the way I did it. If anyone see's anything wrong let me know.


Installing LGNPST

1. Extract LG-LGNPST12.rar

2. Install LGNPST_General_v1.2_Lab_Version

3. Reboot

4. Install LGNPST_Components_Ver_5_0_12_0 - If it fails the first time run it again

5. Install LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_5_0_10_0

6. Copy LGNPST.exe and the model folder to C:\LG ELECTRONICS\LGNPST

7. Copy VM697.DLL and the .tot file from the root zip to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model

8. Open command prompt as administrator and run the following command

regsvr32.exe "c:\lg electronics\lgnpst\model\vm696.dll"

9. Run LGNPST.exe from the C:\lg electronics\lgnpst.... Do not run the lgnpst_general shortcut placed in your start menu
 
And for those interested... Yes Google Wallet still works... Just says unsupported device... :rolleyes:

Just means Google won't give you support or if someone gets your info somehow they won't support you.
 
Oh, fiddlesticks!

I'm stuck at:

"7) Select the bin and flash the file
Ensure that you are on the Upgrade Setting, and then in the Bin File section click the folder to browse to your tot file."

LGNPST will only allow me to browse and select ".bin" files. In the browse window, under Files of type, only "BIN Files (*.bin)" is listed as an option, so I am unable to select the TOT file.

Anybody have a suggestion?
 
Browse to the folder that your tot is in. In the filename box type *.* and it should let you see and select the tot

That's the ticket!

I typed *.* in the filename box and hit Enter. Then I was able to select the TOT file.

Well, that solved that issue, but the flash process fails shortly after clicking Start with the following error:

lgnpstflashingtoterror1.jpg



The LOG says:
C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model\LOG\VS910Log_COM10_PROCESSING_6.12_2012_20.56_error_6.12_2012_20.57.log

I keep reinstalling LGNPST_Components_Ver_5_0_12_0.msi and it says it was successful, but I still get the error.

Must be something else.

I was getting this same error when attempting to flash stock firmware in LGNPST v1.3 Lab Version previously.

This LG Software really makes me feel like an idiot. Perhaps it's true. :-)
 
I fixed my problem:

I Ran cmd.exe as Administrator, and pasted in the following:

Alright...

I had to run the ADB commands twice before it was successful (the first time, su transferred over at 0K - I couldn't initially figure out what went wrong), but I'm now rooted!

WOOHOO!

I can't get the freakin MSL. I have done 4 pulls in the last hour, and I have all 0s. I can't figure out what it could be. drivers there, ports are correct. FFFFFFUUUUUUUU
 
Would you mind sending your .bin to me? Or uploading it ill see if I can find it tonight ill be up late pulling .img and trying to see if I can learn more about rom building

Same here, I used different USB Ports and coms and still nothing...

I tried that link and when I get around to finding the partition the recovery/boot is at it doesn't show up just shows up blank
 
I'm having the same issue as Android311. I've dumped the memory 5 or 6 times now and there's nothing remarkable around offset 0x07496A80 in the ebi0_cs0.bin file. I saw that there is a string "UserDat" just below the code in step 13. I search for that string, and I get no results. When I search for "User" i get 2 matches, but both much closer to the beginning of the file.

Compressed with the default 7z settings, but dump is 35MB. :(

None of the three methods worked for me either.

Don't give up yet. The same thing happened to me at first.
