Root Well, lets get the ball rolling

..find the bin and flash the file

i can not find the bin
so im unable to flash the file

what am i missing

Had you used it before? I saw someone a few pages back said it worked fine but maybe he had activated it and reset it before rooting his phone.

Heh, I haven't rooted yet, trying to see what comes up in the forums before attempting it, already got my MSL the other day though.
 
in the Bin File section click the folder to browse to your tot file

i understand the instructions
but when i look in the folder
there is no bin file
 
Well, to say attempting this is driving me nuts would be an understatement. I am to the point of opening LGNPST in the root, but the program won't open.... Just sits forever at "Checking LG USB/Parallel Lockkey. Any help is appreciated.

I had that problem when I tried to open it from the pin on start menu. Ended up going to the folder in my c drive and open out from there.

Go back and see post #516 from this thread. Specifically step #9 in that post should help you get past that message box.
 
i see where you can select the bin
but theres no bin to download
in every file i downloaded and extracted
there are no bin files that i see

and if i just hit start
it says no file path found

Guess this is where I am too... What is the name of the .bin file?

It is not a .bin file, it is a .tot file. It is actually called "VM696ZV4_01.S4_01.P61007.JCASE.tot". When browsing for the .bin file, you click on the box that says file name. It should have in it "*.bin",,,,change that to "*.*" and click enter. Then browse for the .tot file, and hit open. You should then be good to go.
 
So I've come to the conclusion that my drivers may have gotten corrupted in the download or something. Would somebody please do me a HUGE favor, and upload the version of LGNPST they used, their .dll, drivers, and files? I just don't know what else it could be, because everything has been set up perfectly on two different computers, and as soon as it hits 11% the flashing comes to a screeching halt :(

Yea, figured that out in the meantime, I apologize for missing things earlier in these threads, but this is quite frankly probably a touch over my head, but I got this figured this one while I was waiting for a reply... I selected it, entered my MSL, and it now says "Sub Progressing" and has a timer... my phone is also in DL mode... this sound about right?

Yea, I have a progress bar, so it seems promising... now for my next stupid question... next step tells me to push things over? Isn't ADB another program entirely? (Sorry to sound dumb, but rooting my OV involved using gingerbreak.) I am not quite sure what it means to push more over.

Edit: And the phone restarted completely at about %80 progress, but the progress bar is still moving... This normal?

on that screen, you need to click the "UPGRADE" text on the middle of the left side of the screen. once you are in the little upgrade menu, you select the bin and click the big "FLASH IT MEOW!" button.

That's the screenshot of when I put it in download to check the COMPort. I don't have that screen when I try to flash it.

I know that when I got that it's because I launched lgnpst.general.exe.

G to c drive, open lg electronics, lgnpst, then open lgnpst.exe and NOT the lgnpst general.exe.

adb is used in the command prompt. If you have windows 7 or vista, go to start, and in the search bar type in "cmd". there will be something that shows up in the search, click it. Then type in what the tutorial says, but make sure to go to your adb directory first. Push is kinda the same thing as "copy and paste".
