Root west coast internet problem

I am running a rooted tv with band 1.5. Been using it for a month on the east coast with great internet coverage. I flew to la yesterday and I am getting very little internet coverage. I am standing next to someone with a stock th who is getting good coverage and I ran a speedier and got less than 400 on. I tried to do a *228 but I got an error that the sin card updates the roaming capability. Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated

*228 Is not longer available and/or required for the Thunderbolt mainly because we use a sim card and its 4G. I'm noticed some of this behavior between ROMs that may be your problem.
