Root What all does sbf do?

I have just recently done an sbf to .602 twice and then I have also flashed several different rom after doing so and here is my main question. When you do an sbf doesn't that completely wipe your device and put it back to plain stock, like it would come from VZW?

Each time I have done the sbf, I have also done a data wipe/factory reset, wiped the cache, and wiped the dalvik cache. Then each time, when I get it loaded up, my old wallpaper is there and I've noticed all my bookmarks in the browser are there as well. I never saw this when I did an sbf with Froyo...everything was cleaned out completely.

I am using RSD Lite 5.4.4 and the .602 file from here http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...ad-602-sbf-root-process-updated-9-9-11-a.html. Using all the steps from this post as well.

So, why is everything not getting completely wiped clean? Any clues? This is also before I restore any apps with Titanium.

there's an explanation out there, and I can't find it, but when I sbf'ed on FroYo, I would come back to my old FroYo wallpaper.

Also, interestingly enough, if I flashed my .573 or .588 GB build, they would have the different wallpapers that I had used with those ROMs as well.

Google is supposed to back up your bookmarks and restore them to your phone when you sync with Google, so that should be ok (though it's never worked for me.)

SBF will make your phone go back to "new" or just like it did the day it came out of the box.

Depends on what SBF you use if will either go back to froyo or gingerbread

So its your best friend if you mess things up really bad.

Define: A sbf file is the ultimate rescue file to fix your broken Motorola phone. It is the same file the techs use at Verizon if you take your phone in to have them fix it. As long as you can access your phones boot loader, you can fix 99% of bricked phones. You need a program called RSD lite to flash your phone

something might stay the same because of googles backup and things you store on your SD card

I don't know. It's just strange. Every time I did an sbf back to Froyo it wiped it clean. Always had the default home screens and icons, the default vzw wallpaper, and all my bookmarks are gone. Every time I have done an sbf up to GingerBread .602 my home screens have the default icons, but my wallpaper is always restored (Darth Vader) and all my bookmarks are always there. So, maybe something is just different in .602. Maybe Google is storing that somewhere. Got me.

Happens to me to bro, dunno.

Unless some stuff is stored on the sd card? Not sure.

One other thing I just remembered that is saved are all of my wifi settings. It is remembering all of the wifi places I have saved.

That is definitely Google.

As for wallpapers and stuff, not sure. Weird though. I too have noticed this since Gingerbread.
