What Alternative FB app do you use?

Tbh i think its best to use m.facebook.com and put a homescreen shortcut for it.
Theres Friendcaster but i havent used it in a while and the txt was too small for my crapy eyes.
Facebook should really design a new app from the ground up as fresh as google+'s i think

I agree, the mobile site is pretty good actually - the same as the app without all the slowness.

OP, If you do want to try a third party app, there is as mentioned Friendcaster, and there is also Flipster and Fast for Facebook which are pretty good. The downside with 3rd party apps is that if anyone on your friends list has their privacy settings to block any third party affiliation, then you won't be able to see anything they post.

Facebook have been saying they are in the process of making a native app (like they have done with the iPhone) but nothing has come of it yet. Hopefully we won't have to wait long

I really liked friendcaster. It integrated status updates into the contact list (which I have missed from blackberry) and just overall much better syncing. However, it caused a drain on my phone with its contacts syncing. Massive wakelocks. Had to ditch it. I just use the official app.

Do u think its lack of advertising that stops them wantin to make a 2012 style app mate?

Can the sync-rate be adjusted mate?
Tbh i just use official fb coz its easier for sharing, notifications etc but i use the website if im on killin time lol. Cant believe u cant even edit a comment on the app.
Its like theyve been holdin it together with sellotape yet theyre so rich, there must be 100s of bedroom devs who would kill to build a new app...

Its not about the sync rate. Its a bug as far as I can tell. I set it to sync daily but its as if it also takes all day to sync.

I use either seesmic or flip board. Both keep everything nicely up to date and don't spend hours trying to load stuff or saying there's no connection.

^^ This.

The FB app is useless IMO. not only does it suck battery life by never closing and force re-starting itself but look at some of the permissions!!

I just set it as my browsers homepage and its perfect for me. and i agree, friendcaster is toooo small!

Started using m.facebook.com myself - I thought I had internet problems as most clicked images refused to open - until I realised they are fine using the mobile app.

I find pics to be better on the website, for example i can download them.
Never had one not open mate...

I use FriendCaster Pro for a while. The problem is that not all of my friends show up on the news feed. I realised something was wrong when I never get updates for a few people who I get updates from often. It seems for some reason (perhaps those friends' security settings) third party FB apps do not have all of the access to everyone's posts. I stopped using FCP regularly for that reason.

I do still use it for a few features that is not available in the FB app. For instance, FCP allows me to create an event in my Google calendar from FB calendar events. I do not sync my calendar with FB because I do not want all of the events that FB includes (birthdays).

I use something called Scope. It's the Android version of SocialScope which was a BlackBerry app that amalgamates various feeds like Twitter and Facebook. It was the cat's azz on the BlackBerry and it's OK on the Android devices but I liked it better on the BlackBerry. I'm open to trying something else.

Loads of stuff like that was better on Blackberry. The RIM facebook app was great. Integration into contacts was much better.

That said, I could never go back. In fact I did when my s3 was in for repair. Awful!

Thanks to all for the heads up about how good the m.facebook was.

just had a look, think this will be my default from now on.:D

Talk about service, eh? You complain about the FB app and the very next day they release a major overhaul ;)

But indeed, the new update is actually...good. I've long despised the app. It has always been utterly dreadful. But from the looks of it, the new redesign seems rather good.

Pleasantly surprised...

I installed it yesterday. No longer sucks on my phone. Still sucks on my tablet.

Zuck said FB was going to be more mobile-centric going forward. Guess that means a bit less refinement for computer and tablet versions. They'll need to keep up with the tablet refinements though - lots of people letting tablets slip off the couch and get a bit more mobile than they were intended.
