Just bought the M8
Had iphone for the past 2 years and so far I am very happy with the change. It has been awhile since i have used android and would like to know what everyone uses for their antivirus.
Those that say you don't need one, and those that say it can't hurt. I'm in the former
Android apps are sandboxed, which will limit any nefarious apps you have installed. Its also important to note the antivirus app will be sandboxed as well, limiting what it will actually be able to do.
Google regularly scans the play store for malicious apps. If you download from the play store, from respected developers, and pay attention to permissions you are about as safe as can be
Personally I don't use one. I only install apps that have a good amount of reviews and always look at permissions before installing them to make sure that I'm not installing an app that has access to permissions it doesn't need. I.e. a game app that wants access to my phonebook. As long as you are prudent there really isn't a need for one imo.
Normally I don't use one, but if you download apps from places other than the Google play store it would be a good precaution. I use lookout and it has spotted a malicious app that wasn't from the Google play store before.
But what is you browse the internet a lot from your smartphone? Wouldn't an antivirus warn you against potential malicious websites? Also if I do internet banking from my phone is it something I should have?. I would hate to have this phone slow down and become laggy though.
I have heard good things about cm security (same company that makes clean master) I installed it last night and it hasn't seemed to slow my phone but im wondering how much of a battery hog it will be.
