Root What Apps Can I Change with CyanogenMod?

I recently rooted my phone and installed CyanogenMod. As you may know, the ROM comes with "better" apps for things like calculator, clock, and calendar. They look like great apps. But, I think I may want to revert back to the original of a couple of those. Mostly for the wheel mechanism they use for the numbers, instead of the plus and minus signs. I've looked on the market for these basic apps and can't find them. How do I do that? By the way, I'm also using Titanium Backup. (which, the only apps I can find on it are the ones from Cyanogenmod)

Thanks so much.

Hi

It sounds like you want to have a Sense ROM back on your phone. I'm not clear on what you mean by "better" apps. I think you are referring to the vanilla versions of calc, calender, clock etc...

They do look rather drab compared to a Sense ROM. This is part of the reason Sense ROM's will remain so popular and have it's following.

What ROM's have you tried out is CM your 1st flash? I would try some Sense ROM's like IncROM, IR 2.3, RedemptionROM, SR, UberROM, etc...

They all can be found here... good hunting!

Thank you jbdan. Yes, this is my first ROM that I've seen besides Sense. Was it that obvious? lol I've only just rooted my phone or even looked into doing it a couple weeks ago. I'm glad I did.

This all makes sense now. I didn't realize the native apps came with certain ROMs. I'm not sure I would want a Sense ROM back on the phone. 1) I'm starting to like the apps on CM and 2) I didn't completely like the original Sense apps. There were just some features like the wheel numbers that I found really easy to use.

Nonetheless, is there anyway to see what each of these additional ROMs look like or do, before someone was to flash them to the phone? I'm satisfied with CM to the point that I'm pretty sure I don't want to keep experimenting and tweaking my phone. I've been on my phone a good bit in the last week and it can get on some nerves, if you know what I mean.

Hi,

I only miss the number-selection wheels of Sense, is it possible to change the +/- selectors with the sense-type?

That is the only part that I really miss from Sense, an app that I can install would suffice too, but I could not find anything relevant except this thread.

Thanks,
Ger.

I miss those too, they are handy when setting a reminder.

I'm not sure you will be able to get it with cyanogen because it's a sense thing.

Is there a better email app we can use? the gmail app is so-so, and the email app with CM7 is a little worse than that. I wouldn't mind an email client app, so if you know one....yo
