What are you doing with your ipod touch?

Might just look into that. All that concerns me is battery life if I start using music alot. Most of my friends have kept their ipods even when they got an iphone/smartphone since music drains it heavily. But i'll look into that cuz sometimes its nice to have music available at hand when I've forgotten my ipod

I have been using Windows Media Player for my MotoDroid. I plug my MotoDroid into my computer and mount it. I then open Windows Media Player. The first time you do this, WMP will ask you to name your device and set up how you want it to sync. I simply named my device "(My Name) Droid" and set it up to be manually sync'd. I simply select the songs I want to send to my MotoDroid and then click sync.

Granted you will have to port all of your songs from iTunes to WMP and I'm not sure if WMP auto converts the files like iTunes or not. I had all of my files in WMP as .wma or .mp3 before I got my iTouch and when I ported them all to iTunes, iTunes converted them to .aac (or whatever file extension iTunes uses). This left me with iTunes and WMP files (double the files) so I just moved all of my .wma and .mp3 files to my 1TB external HDD. I just plug that in and then plug my Motodroid in and let WMP do the rest.

Oh its going to be fun opening Windows Media Player again I haven't touched that in days. I'd only be able to use a few songs on the Droid, considering I bought a lot from iTunes. But my torrents are in.mp3 so they will be no trouble porting to Droid.
 
Uh, you should be able to use those songs still.. And, FYI, if your not around wifi, but want the browser and such of the itouch and your rooted, wireless tether works for a connection, but baranacle wifi tether does not. As long as you dont mind, starting it on your phone, and then switching to the touch that is.

Unfortunately, that is the only way I know of to automate syncing music to your MotoDroid. I guess if it is a big problem, you can just plug in your MotoDroid, mount it and drag and drop your music.

The Android system can play music from iTunes (.aac, or whatever the file extension is). So, if it's not too big of a deal, you can just drag and drop those files without converting them or anything and you Droid will play them just fine.

I'm not a big fan of WMP, but it is quite easy to just select the music I want on my droid and let WMP take care of the rest.

I mean seriously. What is better on an itouch other than the way it looks so cool when you choose albums. That is really the only key difference.

For me, its sound quality and volume. I usually listen to music while at work so I enjoy the ipod because its louder (I work around heavy equipment) and so it doesn't waste the battery on my droid. I also have a few games that keep me
occupied.

You must be using headphones when listening to you iTouch at work. I say this because my iTouch's external speaker sucks! And I do mean sucks. It is not loud at all. In fact, if I don't hold it relatively close to my ear, I can't hear it. And that is with the volume turned all the way up.

Now my droid, on the other hand, is louder as "all get out". I was in a bar the other night and the juke was playing and people were practically yelling just to have conversations over the music. I played a song for my girlfriend because she didn't know what song I was talking about. I had the volume about 75% of the way up and I could hear it loud and clear over the juke and everything. I had my phone sitting on the bar with the speaker side down even.

I would have to say that my Droid is much, much, much louder than my iTouch. Now, with headphones, they are both about the same IMO. And, the sound quality is basically the same as well. I don't know if it's because I have my mp3 set at a higher bit rate or what, but I don't notice a difference in sound quality between the two devices (except on occasion, my Droid might have a minimal amount of distortion, but that never lasts longer than a second or two).

I'm one of the users on here who used to have a iPod Touch and a dumbphone. Last year, my family's contract with sprint was about to end, so we looked into switching to another carrier and other phones.
Basically, what I wanted to get was an all-around can do everything smartphone (w touchscreen) so I could ditch my ipod and would have one less thing to carry around. It came to the iPhone (AT&T) or Droid (Verizon) for me. In the end, it all came down to the network. AT&T simply didn't have any coverage at my house. Verizon has limited coverage at my house, but at least I can sort of make calls at my house. (Sometimes the calls drop :().

My main concern when changing from ipod + dumbphone to a Droid was I was afraid the media experience on the Droid wouldn't be as good as on my itouch. I must say, those worries weren't entirely offbase. I kind of wish I had the itouch music player on my Droid but I'll manage with bTunes. The Droid is definitely an better experience overall than the iPhone. It seems everyday it gets even better. You won't believe how useful flash as become for me.

I know some people like the games on the iTouch but I guess I've never really been crazy about mobile games really... I use my Droid to check email/access websites/music/navigate. The only game I really play on my Droid is red poker club texas hold'em app. o.O Being able to access the internet over the 3G connection is turning out to make my Droid a lot more useful than my iTouch.

To answer your question, I sold my iTouch a few weeks to a friend.

Isn't most of the Apple music DRM free? I know there are some tracks that aren't, but they were upgraded last year...course depending on how much you bought from them it might have been a shiny penny to upgrade from DRM to non-DRM tracks...just a thought to consider.

I may be wrong, but I think Apple charges a few cents extra for DRM free versions. Please someone else verify this.

isyncr is one of my favorite apps.
It syncs with itunes .
10x better than double twist.
Its very fast
syncs Playlist and
does NOT double create files .
it has a great 4x4 widget along with 2x4 and 1x4 as well
You can also rate your songs on your phone and it syncs with your itunes account .

I kept my touch for a few months after getting my Droid because I was afraid I would miss playing some of the games I had, but I found myself never touching the thing and eventually sold it. I've got a Classic for the car now, and I just put a few of my favorite tracks on the Droid for casual listening.
 
I dont own a touch, But I got a Zune hd. But I wont get rid of it because I got a droid. I still use it to play my music. especiallly in the car. since I got a zune ready headunit.
 
i still use my ipod touch 16gb a lot. I mainly use it when my droid is not near me...which is not very often. I have noticed that I can tweak router settings on my ipod always, but the droid does not always alow you to. I really like the sensitivity on the ipod better than the droid because the pod is much more responsive on the touch screen. It took some time getting used to the droid but I think that finally go used to the screen. I have decided that I will still continue to keep both my Ipod and droid for now. I almost always have both in my pocket.
 
I have a 1st gen 16gb iPod touch. It sits comfortably in a desk drawer while I use my droid. Every once in awhile I take it out and play a few games.
 
Two things keep me from selling my Touch. I'm too cheap to upgrade my vast iTunes library to unrestricted music, and Netflix coming to the Touch this summer. I have used the Netflix app on an iPad and I'm super excited for it on the touch. Theres a lot of times I am laying in bed wide awake and want to watch something but worry about waking my wife or the kids. Netflix IW queue on my Touch is pure awesome sauce.

As a Former iPhone and current Touch user I will say that the iPhone OS is getting old and stale. I never expected to LOVE Android this much, but now when I pull out the Touch I almost shudder to use it.
 
Well, I gave my girlfriend the option of taking my mint condition iTouch or getting an iPod Nano and she chose the Nano. Go figure. She couldn't tell me why she wanted the Nano more than the iTouch, but just that she wants an iPod Nano.

So, now I get to decide if I want to keep it or try to sell it. I'm just worried that I'm not going to get much for it. It's a second gen iTouch and I really want to try to get at least $150-$200 for it because it is in mint condition.

Well, I'm sure I figure out what to do with out some time soon.

for the argument about whose music play is better, whats the point when your headphones in your droid dont work to begin with. i am on my second droid in 5 months and both have had the same issue. as a customer it shouldnt be a crap shoot to see how many refurb'd droids i have to get to find one where the headphone jack actually works and i am not dropping $100 on some stereo bluetooth headphones. for this reason, i still have my 120gb classic.

as for the touch, a little music here and there, mostly games and one app in particular, but this app is a very unique and random situation, but bottom line is i HAVE to have it and android doesnt offer it.

games? ANGRY BIRDS! best game ever.

The nosey part of me is interested to know what app this is you speak of that is so important, but that Android doesn't have. I'm just curious because I may want to check it out.
