Listening to Local Natives' album: Hummingbird.
 
(Slayer: Heard he was bitten by a brown recluse spider. A nasty b****. I have been told by friends from the same Texas town where the singer lives, they occur there in large number. Chance is reasonable he got bitten when he was visiting.)

he was,,but that was years ago and he developed that flesh eating bacteria from it! which is extremely rare and usually people with a weak immune system or chronic disease....I'm guessing he already had liver issues when he was bit?

They are reporting that he died from Liver failure...

(BTW, 'flesh eating bacteria' is a bad name for what's usually a staph or strep infection)
