What case do you use?

I clicked to see the one you linked to, Ian, and it looks a lovely case. I thought I'd found the case for my (as yet un-bought) Note. Then I saw the price. That's the most expensive case I've seen for the Note! (would still be interested in what you think of it though).

I have also the Seidio case (without the stand at the back) and holster. It is a superiour design compared to all other cases. Draw back is that I live in Europe (it is not avaialable here) and ordered it the US and than it is very very expensive (all-in I payed 125 USD, tax in the US and The Netherlands + P&P + a customs rate).

Just ordered this Seidio Active w/ Kickstand

At first I thought you were looking at a different link! I don't know what happened there but the decimal place is in the wrong place. It's USD$11.80, not $118.00 :D About

Aaaah that makes more sense - Sorry if I worried you! Does look very good and at that price it's certainly worth buying just to get it protected even if it doesn't end up a keeper. What colour did you go for? I usually like black but I learned my lesson with my iPad for which I got a great (cheap!) case off Amazon but it's black which is not great with a dark navy sofa and black kitchen work tops -I keep losing it.

I see from your other thread that you're waiting for your Note to come this morning so I hope it's arrived already. I look forward to your comments on it as I hope to be following that route soon.

My new Note is on charge right now :) I went for a white Note and chose the light blue flip case. A light brown would have been ideal, but they didn't offer that. I almost went for the red one :D Fingers crossed it will arrive by the weekend and I will have to be careful to protect my Note until then.

Importantly, the case has no magnets. I did contact the suppliers of this:

Looks very nice but the clasp is magnetic. The suppliers denied that the magnetic clasp is a problem and did offer a no questions asked refund if I wasn't happy, but by then I had already ordered the other one.

It wouldn't be the magnet that would put me off this kind of case, but the card holders.

I don't know why there are so many designed like this; surely having the screen constantly in contact with the raised numbers or edges of credit cards etc. when the case is closed is going to be an issue?

I have something similar for an iPad, and even without cards I can clearly see marks from the stitched seams.

I have to agree. I wouldn't have used the Neo Orbit case for my credit cards. Fingers crossed the solution from eCell turns out to be the right one. My main worry is how cheap it is. In my experienc cheap cases are cheap for a reason :D

Ian

I am using this cheap and cheerful case at the moment until I find something that I really like and am willing to spend some money on.

Does the magnetic clasp (which I think yours has) mess with the compass function? Some people have also expressed concern that the inside of the front flap might eventually leave marks on the screen with this type of design that has credit card pockets and stitching.

I just upgraded to the Seidio Active w/ Kickstand in the Glossed White color. Here's what it looks like:

I really like it in white with the kickstand much more than the plain black and no kickstand. My first Android was the original Evo so it feels like a super size version of that. Plus it still has the same protection of the one I reviewed before, which is great since I sell my phone every year and put the money towards a new one. Highly recommended.

I considered something like this but I'm assuming the screen is not protected? That's what put me off. It also looks rather bulky.

Never bother with screen protectors, ruin the experience and in 4 or so years of touch screen phones I've never had a single scratch.

Usually go naked, but the Note is so thin I find it extremely likely I'm going to drop it. As such, I use a gel plastic case as below. Plus, it raises the camera lens when you put it down on a surface. Always think having the lens flush is a major design flaw in almost all phones.

You can use a screen protector if you choose to, but as dude above said it's very rare that you'll experience a situation where it's needed. The case fits it in such a way that even if you drop it face down the screen won't touch the ground.

I'd go naked though if it had a kickstand built in.

I had a Dell Windows CE PDA a few years ago and the screen got scratched, which is why I am probably not keen on cases that don't protect the screen. I'm forever putting my handset into pockets and bags and sometimes you just don't realise there is a screen scratching monster in there!

I totally respect that. Keep in mind that most cases and screen protectors are completely separate products though. You can get a screen protector and then use whatever case you want as well and they won't really effect eachother.

Screen protector film is not for me, which is why the only choice for me is a case that has a flip cover.

Don't really use the compass, so haven't noticed, will experiment tomorrow and see if there is an impact.

With regards to the stitching; It does leave marks on my greasy screen, however once I clean the screen any marks are gone. I should point out that I also have a screen protector on the Note and there are no marks on the screen under this.

After trying two other protective cases, I gave up on both because of their bulkiness. I finally found this one that is slim, has a kick stand and still allows me to continue using my leather belt case (the other ones were so bulky they would not fit in the belt case).
