What case (if any) is everyone using on their Razr?

I am not a fan of "pocketing." Just check the posts for comments of screen scratches from keys, coins, etc.

That's why I don't have anything else in the same pocket as the phone. :)

Instead, I bought a leather belt case and my Nillkin-TPU-skinned RAZR fits nicely in it.

Where did you find a belt case that fits? Do you have a link?

I've checked Walmart, Kmart, Target, Radio Shack, and Staples. The "generic" cases won't fit. There was a Case Logic designated for "large Android phones" (said so on the box) but was about 1/4 inch too small for the Razr.

The local Verizon store is just a reseller and they didn't have a big selection of cases.

An eBay seller named "GoToBidNow" has a couple for sale, all under $10:

  • I bought
    1
    THIS
one. I love the looks and small profile, but it is about 0.15" too small in length. Everything else is fine. I had to stretch out the elastic on the sides and finally have it working pretty well. If you like the look, I'd recommend at least trying it. If not satisfied, Seller is pretty reasonable about working with you.
  • The seller now recommends
    1
    THIS
case, which apparently is a bit bigger. He is sending me one as well to try. I'll post a comment once I receive that one.

I think there are more for sale online from other sellers that are advertised as fitting the Droid RAZR.

I personally prefer horizontal leather cases, because (to me) they are easier to get the phone in and out and are more comfortable when sitting. Others like vertical holsters. There are a couple of good-looking vertical leather holsters out there, like
1
THIS
one and

THIS
one and
1
1
THIS
one. Haven't tried one to confirm fit, but have to admit that those last 2 (Teramo and Bergamo) are pretty sweet.

Finally, I have seen leather holsters for Gnex for sale, but have not tried any. Assume they would fit as well?

Good luck...

What I find works well is the front pocket of my jacket or coat. This works well for fall, winter, spring. Not sure what I will do during the summer :)
-
these front pockets are only used for an occiasional letter; so they are qutie clean - much better than pants or side pockets where I toss coins, keys, and other crap (the pockets can collect small stones (think dust size) which WILL scratch most glass).

Guys, before you commit to a case, check out the Motorola car dock. It's really awesom e...but fit depends partially on what case you use. The dock had a removable insert to accommOdate a case but the dimensions still matter.

Thank you for the info! I too prefer horizontal cases for the same reason you stated.

Please let me know how you like it. But, for the price, may just pick one up for myself!

Cheers!

I would like a belt loop case with inner sleeve for micro sd cards. Found one at Amazon, but has velcro lock intsead of a magnet (do not want velcro). I went ahead and ordered the shell case with holster from Amazon for $12.50, delivered. Same case as VZW, but less than half the price.

I got the Otter Box defender for me used to with my incredible and saved the phone a few times. The one for the razr is alot better doesnt really add much bulk to it compared to the incredible one so like it alot.

Got any pics by chance?

Thank you for the pictures really appreciate it.

That Otterbox sure does add some bulk though. You don't mind it I guess?

Thank you Bully. Please let me know about that case (the one being sent to you). That looks exactly like what I want.

....

Right now (since it's dress down Friday at work) I have it in a front jeans pocket. When I'm outside I'll move it to a jacket pocket.

Like you said, not sure about summer. I want something a little more secure, so I know it's not going to fall out. :)

I only have the use of my right hand and being that makes me more klutzy when attempting to do things one handed, I appreciate the extra protection in the event of drops. Coming from the Samsung Intensity to the Razr is quite an experience in itself let alone adding the case, but I love the phone never-the-less.

I just received

THIS holster case today. It is a Luxmo leather horizontal holster with 2 fixed belt loops and a center belt clip, with double magnetic closure. This holster fits my Droid RAZR -- which has a Nillkin TPU case on it -- PERFECTLY! :D

The style of the case is tried-and-true, and is similar to the holsters that many of us have used for earlier Windows Mobile phones. Having said this, I have always found these types of cases to be durable, good-looking, and safe. This model for the RAZR seems no different.

Best of all, it is available for under $10.00 on eBay.

If you are looking for a side horizontal belt holster to carry your RAZR -- and especially if you have a low-profile skin on the phone like the Nillkin TPU -- this case is it.

The Luxmo packaging had a product code of LPSAMINFDWHBK. According to a quick Google search, this model was originally intended for the Samsung Infuse. This would make sense, as the Infuse is just slightly larger than the RAZR -- which allows for the Nillkin TPU case to fit.

There are probably other cases out there that would also do the trick, but like NealJ777 and others have lamented, the cases at brick-and-mortar stores don't seem to fit, and with the online stores, you're not quite sure what you're going to get. Now, at least you know of one leather holster that will fit a naked RAZR as well as a Nillkin-TPU-skinned RAZR.

No promises about RAZRs with other skins/cases attached ....

Below are some pics of this model holster from another online seller:

Hey guys :)

I'm a brand new owner of a Motorola Droid Razr and I purchased an Otterbox Defender case for the phone.

I thought I'd write a small review to let you guys know how I feel about the case! At the end I will include some photos (sorry my photo skills aren't great haha but they convey my points across :D)

1. Comfort: 9/10

I give this case a 9 because the silicone covering around it makes it a bit of an hassle to take the phone out of my pocket. Besides that, the case feels great when I hold the phone in my hand. I have no issues holding it properly when I call someone or when I'm using it to text or hold it horizontally to view a video or something.

The case does add a bit of bulk to the phone, but considering how well it protects your investment its not a huge deal. The case is about 1.3 cm tall on the sides.

2. Protection: 10/10

First off, the buttons are easily accessible and the case protects them very well. My friend had a similar rugged case that made accessing the side buttons annoying as hell!

Second, the open slots on the phone (charger, hdmi, headphones) are protected and shielded via little flaps that close snugly over them. You simply lift the flap up and voila!

Finally, overall protection seems awesome. While I'm not brave enough to drop my phone and let you all know whether it fares well, I'm very positive that in such a scenario my phone will be just fine. There is a hard plastic inner shell that holds the phone. There is a foam padding that protects the back of the phone. Then, the silicone skin fits around the hard plastic shell and protects the whole assembly from drops. In addition, there is a really cool shield for the screen, so say good-bye to those annoying screen protector sheets you have to cut out and smooth out using plastic cards.

Other Features: 9/10

The whole case can be attached to a belt clip that doubles up as a nifty table top for your phone. You can flip the belt clip around and turn your phone into a table top that makes it easy to view videos or work on a table. This way you don't need to hold the phone in your hands the whole time. The only downside to this is that the clip is very, very strong. I personally find it hard to unclip it when I'm done using my phone as a table top. Overall though, the belt clip is sturdy and well made.

*I am not sure what to call it (table top or what) but if you look at the photos I think you'll see what I mean.

Price: 7/10

Ok... this case is $50... I got it for $31 but the only reason I didn't buy this case was because it was $50. I was just lucky to find it on sale for $31, so I grabbed it!

So there you have it :D Just my 2 cents on this nice case.

Oh here's some pics :D

Do you have big hands? For me using with one hand, it makes a barely able to use device impossible.

Still, I can dig the protection it gives.

I have long fingers but probably a slightly larger than average hand. I use both hands to handle the device, both before I had the case and now. This is my first smartphone so I am still getting used to using it with one hand :P

My holster shell stand combo came in.

Better than I thought would be and the stand is handy. The butter on the biscuit is the case fits it in my belt loop case :)

Screen protector and otterbox commuter case. The defender was a little too over the top, commuter should protect it just as well snowboarding.

Please post some photos with your Razr in the case. :)

Thank you,
Neal

Please see attached. Sorry if pictures aren't too clear, but a dark phone in a dark case looks ... well, dark! ;)
