What CID gets updated first??

My phone is rooted and had a CID-11111111. However, with news that gingerbread is coming I changed the CID to HTC__001 thinking I would be one of the first to get it..

It got me wondering as I assumed it went by CID but I think it may be by software number, which I have 1.32.405.6 (Stock HTC Rom)

Have I just changed my CID for no reason?

In my experience (with a different HTC phone, I might add), the CID is what RUUs check to make sure you're running older firmware with the correct branding. Goldcards are there to let you bypass the CID check and install whatever firmware you want.
