What color is the phone?

Is the new Nexus the darker color of the old Nexus One or the lighter more silver color? I really hooe it's the darker color... It's hard to tell from the pics though- and I hate the lighter color of my Thunderboot, well I just hate the Thunderbolt for a lot of reasons actually.

It is black.

Are you sure? Everything I've seen after the official announcement shows a dark silver color.

And if I know Verizon, it will be a cheap plastic.

I am still getting it, but don't hope for anything beautiful.

Watch this vid for what the color is:

Better comparison pic with the SGSII which is imo, true black.

It might be lighter on the edges like the Charge but I believe it is mostly black. Its not light light the Thunderbolt.

What are you basing this on? Have you used the phone yourself?

I wish it were black, but all the evidence points otherwise. The edges look pretty much the same as the back cover, both look silver to me.

It is absolutely not black. At all. In any of the images.

It's definitely a dark-ish silver, exactly what shade is hard to say since silver changes a lot depending on the lighting. Check this out for a good feel on what it'll look like:

Yep, looks like a dark silver/dark gray color. But I don't think Verizon has anything to do with what material is used. Google picked all of the components so they, and to a degree Samsung, have everything to do with the materials used. Verizon just sells it. ;)

Probably. I just always noticed Verizon gets cheaper versions of the same phone.

Ex: The original RAZR had a nickel-etched keypad and metal components for the clamshell, whereas the Verizon version got cheaper plastic components. I suspect it is a deal they reach with the OEMs to lower the price of the phone so they don't have to subsidize as much of the MSRP.

It looks like gunmetal to me from some of the pictures. I'd not want a bright shiny silvery phone because with plastic it looks tacky. If I get it, i'll be slapping a case on it so the color might not be too big an issue.

If it's the DARK color like the back of the T-bolt I will be okay with that. But if it's the pewter color... I might have really consider the RAZR. :(

So you decide on a phone based on what color it is?

Different strokes for different folks and all that.

If it was pink with floral patterns, I'd probably pass too. I don't like cases.
:-)

Why is there no smiley faces feature on the phandroid app?

Well yes I can see if it was pink or something extreme like that but from black( which idk where anyone got that from it never looked black) to a gunmetal color really wouldn't affect me but guess it does for others.

My Nexus 1 was silver and now my thunderbolt is mostly the same color... I am just sick of it. Black, it goes with everything. The Razr is speced about the same with me- it's just comes with a 4 course dinner of Bloat that kills it for me.
