What connection setting should I se

lect when backing up the data on my SD card before making it a gold card, usb tethering or disc drive? Also I would be grateful if anyone could tell me which connection type should be selected for making the gold card once I have backed up data and formatted it. And also for rooting, I have read the faq but it didn't mention anything about this only to select de bugging mode for installing the h boot drivers.

1) you need to access the sd card so mount as drive. USB tethering is connecting to the internet via the phone. Nothing to do with SD cards.

2) You install the hboot drivers manually and it connects when you are in hboot mode. i.e android is not running ergo, you cannot use usb debugging
