What do you call a sandwich which comes on a 6 to 24 inch roll?

TO ALL MY MASSACHUSETTS AND ESPECIALLY BOSTON AREA PEOPLE! it's not a actual "submarine" unless it's from Mighty Subs in Needham. Agree??? lol

In jersey, it was always a sub. its short for submarine not the subway brand sandwich shop.

anyone else get theirs in those bags with all the various names on it?

Definitely called subs in Kansas. Back in the sixties you might hear hoagie or grinder but those terms faded into history and are not used at all today.

Evidently Spukies as a name for submarine sandwiches has had a resurgence in popularity in Massachusetts. I found a whole bunch of shops called "Spukies N Pizza" when I did a Google search. I guess Boston MA isn't the center of the universe after all. Damn you Ben Franklin! :argh:

I absolutely loved the pre-made baguette sandwiches in France. So good, wish you could get something like that here. :)

Has anyone heard of Capriotti's?
One just opened in DC and apparently it's all the rage. Joe Biden visited it yesterday since it's a Delaware chain. Maybe I'll check it out sometime this weekend.

There are these ones, and another one with multiple names all printed on it in a repeating pattern, I think the other ones had some more names on em too.
