I use the Android SDK for screen caps. Follow instructions HERE. It's for droid x users, but works on the D2.

Its Fancy Widgets. It's not in the market, but if you google around, you can find it.

They're actually icons, not widgets. But I used BetterCut to assign custom icons.

I remember a (Free) home launcher that used to screen cap with a non-rooted D1.... press the camera button and snap....

problem was, I ended up with a bunch of screen captures on accident. Plus, I liked LauncherPro a little better with the menu bar features.

Look around though, there is the ability to capture your screenshot with an unrooted droid.
